I'm not sure if this has ever been noted before, but Heimlich-as in "Heimlich Hospital"- Heimlich means "Secretly" in German. I was just wondering if this has already been noted-and if it has I'm sorry for making an unnecessary thread.

That's an interesting connection, and certainly appropriate. The name of the hospital is usually linked to the Heimlich manoeuvre, but the alternative is very possible; in addition, "heimlich" usually means (or used to mean) "homely," but the word "unheimlich" is the origin of the word "uncanny," which may not be irrelevant.

It's hard to be sure. I'm tempted to say that Handler was probably only thinking of the manoeuvre; however, as the name of a major location, it's quite probable that he would have researched it further, and be aware of any other meanings the name had.

I agree. I came across the german meaning by chance. I was on google translate, because I was a little unsure how to pronounce Heimlich, so I typed it in. Now my google translate was set to "Detect Language" so it detected German, and automatically translated it to English, where upon I found out it meant "secretly."

But, its really cool that it means something.

I actually discovered it by typing it in google translate. I wasn't sure how to pronounce it, so I typed it in. Then it came up with "Translate German?" so I clicked on it and it gave me the meaning.
