I like it. I think you could create the thread, using this outline.

i think 42 42-word stories could involve more people more thoroughly/easily? so, for example, nobody's stuck just writing a two word story. and while i love hemingway's six-word story, i'm not sure how fun or gratifying or engaging it would be to read ten ten-word-or-shorter stories in a row like that, you know? i am all for the initial-way-to-speak-to-you message being included (yours seems fine; anyone got anything better?), and for the initial collage followed by 42 stories. I agree there. @dante: Sounds good.

Thanks for starting up the submission thread, Dante. The advantages of all-42-word submissions would be such that not as much coordination would be required, which might make the whole operation smoother, as well providing an opportunity to reemphasize the 42 theme many times over. On the other hand, advantages of an increasingly-42-word submissions would provide a chance to express our organizational, communicating, and creative abilities. Bear in mind also that we do have an early start on this project, so the coordination would lie mostly with record-keeping, I feel, and not with time - we have some weeks to arrange this. Also, remember we'll all probably be doing several stories, so someone doing a two-word story could also do a 37 word story, for instance. One disadvantage to this that's occurred to me, however, is that collecting extra stories would be more of a challenge.

Might be a good idea to record that reasoning in the submission thread, then! Or paste it over when you have some ideas for ideas. I'm waiting to see what other people come up with - also I'm quite burnt-out tonight. But I should note that I do have an idea for the final story, one that'll tie things together and hint at the secret message, so you might think of that as one slot claimed.

Ah, I hadn't read your introduction thoroughly enough. I'll move it. Meanwhile, are than any other details, besides the length of stories and secret message, we haven't worked out?

I don't think so, but people are always welcome to suggest them.

For those searching through the archives and reading this, our eventual efforts are represented here. And this thread will need to be de-Announcement-ised now; I don't have the power over this board to do it myself.
