I've recently picked up The Hunger Games by north american author Suzanne Collins. I couldn't stop reading from the moment I started to right when I had a collapse at 5 a.m. When I woke up 9 hours later I resumed my read and read til I finished it. I have yet to read Catching Fire and Mockingjay, but I can't wait. Definetely going to see the movie.
What are your thoughts on THG? Have you read them? Do you want to?
I highly recommend these series. And may the odds be ever in your favor!
:Edit: This is a NO SPOILER discussion thread on The Hunger Games trilogy and movie. Please refrain from posting anything that might spoil new readers of the series.

Awesome series, definite page turners. I'm not too excited for the movie, though.

Coincidentally, I have just picked up these books too! I've not read the first book, but I'm about half-way through and I am enormously enjoying it so far. I wonder if the prediction of Earth's future is accurate?

I read all three a while back, around the time of the Summer Book Club on THG. I'm not especially sold on the books, but I thought the conclusion of the series was pretty bold.

I thought it was a great series, better than much the YA fiction circulating the market. I'll admit its extraordinary popularity in schools and such puzzles me at times, though.

I read the first one and really liked it, then started the second one and actually found it boring for a while. I recently picked it up again though, and it's getting better. I've heard before that the first book is the best of the three, with the second being the worst, so that's not to exciting. I really only picked it up after hearing it being mentioned endlessly at school.
I'm actually really excited for the movie, considering the cast and director.

I recently finished the series and loved them, especially way Collins portrayed her characters and brought them to life, but I'm pretty sure the movie is going to be very disappointing...but, that's almost always the case lol

No F.D., not with The Hunger Games. I'm a tribute and I can assure you : the movie is such a faithful adaptation, it's just.... amazing!

I've watched the movie and it was better than I expected, actually.

It had a good review in the paper I read, but hearing from fans that it's a faithful adaptation is more convincing. And indeed surprising - how often do we hear of book-to-movie adaptations being better than expected? If I actually watched movies these days I'd take that as a recommendation.

I haven't seen the movie yet, as I'm flat broke. But I'll be seeing it in April.

The only complaint I've heard is that there isn't enough, or even any, gore. That's understandable though- they DO have to keep a PG13 rating.
