- - - - - Dear Reader, Like many who haven't been born into the life of farming, I have a strong aversion to it, and after writing this book titled THE FESTERING FARM, my aversion has only increased as it tells the events that befell the Quagmire triplets as they wound up at Firefly Farm, not far from Bayou Lafayette. If you, like me, do not care for all things farming, then you will not care for what the Quagmires encounter in this story, such as twisted, terrible family, a really sharp scythe, annoying magpies, a choice between life and death and a moving, murderous scarecrow. Please read something else than this story, as it will only wear you off like farming work. With all due respect, Tiago Squalor - - - - -

The moment I saw there was a thread with this title in this board, I knew you'd have zipped through the finale of TBB, Tiago. There's a much more rustic, rural feel to this new series so far, but perhaps that's just because the first and second volumes are so closely connected - but maybe they'll all be so closely linked. It's not for me to say, of course. I'm curious as to where this is going.

The Crowe siblings Jay Crowe Jasper "Raven" Crowe Bill "Magpie" Crowe " The Crowes, owners of Firefly Farm, a strip of land notorious for it's bad reputation. It is a known fact in the parish they all served time in jail, but after a series of gruesome accidents involving police offers who went to the farm to arrest them, they were left alone by their neighbors and the towns near the farm chose to ignore and shun the place as opposed to find out just what horrible things the three Crowes have done. Their father was rendered invalid in an accident years ago, and has become a recluse. The only ones who have contact with him are his three sons." - From the journals of Jeremiah Hudson.

Hmm, there's almost a theme to their names. They do look a sinister lot. I'm more intrigued by their reclusive father, though; who is he, and what is his role in events? Can he control them, or do they control him?

Wow, the Crowes are even darker than I imagined. I wonder what gave the farm its name? Or perhaps its more obvious than I'm thinking. I'm also intrigued by the allusion to a "murderous scarecrow."

The Firefly Farm's barn. If those wooden walls could speak, what horrors would they say happened between them? - - - - - " Most of the townspeople of the nearby parishes avoid Firefly Farm. Kids are taught to never go near it, not that any kids have ever disappeared. I have many suspicions about that farm. I wonder what exactly happens there that just gives the place such an eerie atmosphere. I'm not sure if I want to know." - From the journals of Jeremiah Hudson

The creepiest thing about that barn is how positively ordinary it looks. "Not that any kids have ever disappeared ...." What could that mean?

Well, good thing I got my new item set ready: - The Genius Bruiser: A Set themed around the combat engineer
- Primary:
Ubermorph: This rail-gun rifle shoots nails instead of bullets or shotgun ammo. It can be used to puncture an enemy's brains out, or, at lower magnetic induction field energy settings, to fix machinery. The nature of its ammo & the fact it has more magazine capacity (60 instead of my stock Carbine's 30) means it does more damage, more quickly.
- Secondary:
New York Networker: A Gatling pistol, made from 2 welded-together revolver magazines for the barrel, various gears for the rotating mechanism, & the handle & magazine of a Glock-18. Holds 20 rounds versus my stock Ruger pistol's 10. Alt-fire activates full auto when I need it.
- Melee:
Staten Island Spike: A monkey wrench that had its top grasping prong replaced with a curved claw. This claw lets it speed up fortification setup process by 20%, as it can get into tight spaces easier. Alt-fire extends its handle to 4 feet, meaning I can bludgeon multiple enemies simultaneously if need be.
- Building (backup fortifications):
Steel Supply Sack: A dispenser converted into a backpack, meaning I still get unlimited supplies, but I can haul it & use it at the same time.
- Miscellaneous items (outfit changes):
Hazardous Environment Suit: Mark VI, which has all the abilities of the Mark V, but also brings back the Mark IV's Long Jump Module. Also like the Mark IV, the Mark VI's flashlight, enhanced running, & oxygen supply each have their own auxiliary fuel supply. Having the Steel Supply Sack attached means my suit's fuel supplies are all limitless.
- Set Bonus:
+2/3 resistance to all damage +100% firepower +100% speed bonus +100% maneuverability bonus
