I can't write a chapter at the moment, so count me out for now. Oh, and, I vote b) ! Great first chapter, Dante, it already looks ominous. I wonder if Olaf was the one who sank that ship...

Well, you have given us a brilliant start, Dante, in a splendidly Lemony style (though by saying that your associates are writing the rest of the story , you have given us freedom not to follow you in this). I particularly liked the bit about the Vaunted Flotation Dirigibles, suggesting that VFD has some interest in the museum.
I vote for option A.

Wow, you really got the Snicket writing style down, Dante. It's going to be hard to live up to that accurate style when it's going to be my turn. I'd like to vote for option B, I really like new characters (if they're well-written of course, believable).

I am a bit strapped for time at the moment, but wanted to drop by and say how much I loved the opening installments, which are very Snickety indeed! I truly felt as though I was reading an ASoUE prequel written by Daniel Handler himself. Amazing job, Kensicle and Dante!
I think I'll go with A, simply because it seems like it will give us a chance to focus more closely on individual characters, rather than if there was a high number of them. Of course, that's just me, and I'm fine with whatever the decided vote turns out to be.
I'll be busy the next three days, but will be available to write a chapter, or collaborate, if anyone needs me to, after the 8th.
Reason for Editing: Had to change "sequel" to "prequel". I really need to pay more attention to what I'm writing, even when I'm feeling rushed. XD

I've got time now to properly comment on this chapter. It's very, very Snickety indeed, as Emma said. I like the VFD references, and I like how Olaf calls Sunny "Babblelaire". It's something that he would definitely do. Also, it reminds me of the movie, when Olaf says, "Sorry, but I can't speak monkey." My favourite bit is this:
And I also like this:
Awesome, Dante! Edit: When will the next writer be nominated?

I've already nominated the next writer, and hopefully he'll be able to write his chapter soon. The vote appears to be even-stevens, so who knows what we'll get.

Sorry I haven't been keeping up with this until now. Great Kind Editor letter and great chapter 1! Actually felt like I was reading a Snicket book. I know itll be too late to vote now but I'll give my opinion anyway. I vote B as A seems too...normal. It would be far more interesting to see a fully staffed ship that doesn't seem to be going anywhere and their involvement to V.F.D. Looking forward to chapter 2

I am also looking forward to chapter two, also my chapter whenever that happens, according to the competition 6 years ago I can write a not so bad Snicket.

Yes, our next designated contributor appears to have hit a busy point in his personal life. Unfortunate, but not entirely unanticipated; I figured this would be a problem at times. But I'm kind of glad it's happening now rather than in the middle of the story.

Yeah, it's okay, I know that they are. Once their chapter is written I'll definitely be looking to keep a more careful eye on contributors who aren't on 667 daily, though. But occasionally you do have that problem where someone can say if they're available today, but it's harder to predict tomorrow. This is exactly why I didn't put a deadline on this, though. I want all the talents and I don't care how long it takes.

Speaking of time, I should be able to get my chapter written fairly quickly, as long as it's on a weekend and not on a weekday.
