No. Trying to stay as close and as true to the books as possible which the film wasn't. In that case, might it be better not to call it a sequel? No, it's a sequel. Just a VERY different interpritation which is coming alone rather nicely at the moment.

Quick update:
Seems like this is going to be a tougher ordeal than I first imagined it would be, going to take a step back and do this as sort of a one off series with all 13 books being 13 episodes. Still plan on continuing the project, just find writing it as a One-Hour Screenplay is much, much easier.

I often thought ASoUE would be better suited that way- thirteen TV episodes each one hour long, and you could maybe include TBL and TUA.

Or maybe a podcast. With 170 episodes (1 chapter per episode) so EVERYTHING from the books could be kept in, narration & all. Also incorporate readings of the "dear Reader letters" (changed to "Dear Viewer", as it would be a video) at the beginning & the "to my kind editor" letters at the end. Animation could be done by Brett Helquist himself. Likewise, Daniel Handler should play Lemony Snicket.

I think 1 one-hour episodes wouldn't be long enough for each book if it were on TV. It would be much better suited to a book a season. That way it gives the audience time to really take in everything and get to know the characters, setting etc. It could work out similar to a chapter an episode. You could end episodes with cliff hangers at important points/twists in the books. Having a whole season would also allow you to keep true to the books as you wouldn't have to cut a lot due to time restraints. i would love to see this on TV!

If you were doing it chapter by chapter though, I'd imagine you'd have to add in a fair amount of scenes and narration to stretch it all out. The advert breaks would also have to be rather long, too.

The Chapter per Episode idea wouldnt work for the first 6-8 books. i walways imagined somethign like this ep 1 - ch 1, 2 2 - 3, 4 3 - 5, 6 4 - 7,8 5 - 9,10 6 - 11,12 7 - 13 Books 9-13 would be fine with a chapter per episode

But are thirteen seasons really realistic? Most shows don't go on so long, with the exception of a few.

But each episode will be the entire book albeit slightly altered.

I would rather see ATWQ in animation.
