I see there's been no movement on this issue for over a week. Shall we revisit the subject after Who Could That Be At This Hour? comes out?

That's the plan, and, of course, we'll have to consult Tragedy.

Okay, everyone, any new thoughts? Or are we happy with the old ones? Remember to use spoiler tags if necessary, though if it's a tagline it really shouldn't be.

My money still goes towards used by secret organizations worldwide or Answering the Wrong Questions.

Excluding what I'm fairly confident are joke suggestions, here are the taglines so far:
For writing that matters, and other matters Used by secret organizations worldwide Answering the Wrong Questions Making all our marks permanent The art of darkness brought to light 667 Dark Avenue never sleeps 667 Dark Avenue: As Bitter as Wormwood 667 Dark Avenue: Have You Been Good To Your Mother? No change
I count three approvals for "writing that matters," two for "used by secret organizations," and two for "answering the wrong questions." I'll allow perhaps another week for suggestions, then get to work on a poll.

If we're going to vote and mine would have any say in it, my favourites would be in that order: 1) "Make all your marks permanent." (my vote if I only have one. Has a very decisive ring to it) 2) "The art of darkness brought to light." (very poetic, I like it) 3) "For writing that matters, and other matters." (maybe a bit vague? still pretty good) 4) "Answering the Wrong Questions" (a little too on the nose I think, but I don't dislike it/I like it about as much as Noble Enough) 5) 667 Dark Avenue: As Bitter as Wormwood (in a way very similar to Noble Enough, but new, so that's cool) Or no change.
I don't really like "Used by secret organizations" as 667 is rather an organization in itself and used by secretive people.

I like "For writing that matters, and other matters" the most, but maybe we should take something more obvious that makes people see that it's about Lemony Snicket, like "Answering the wrong questions", which I also like very much.

I also like 'For writing that matters...' best: it precisely fits what we do. 'Answering the wrong questions', I feel, would suggest we are purely an ATWQ site, which would be deceptive.

Bear in mind "667 Dark Avenue" stays in place, so I don't think "Answering the wrong questions" would necessarily lead people to believe we discuss ATWQ exclusively. Personally, I'd prefer an ATWQ motto for that reason, as that might provide a balance between the two series.
"For writing that matters" is looking attractive, though. I do also like "the art of darkness brought to light."

The reason I'm sponsoring an ATWQ-specific motto is because that is going to be our primary concern for the next three years. It is likely to become the main reason new people will come here or want to come here. I don't think we can risk missing that opportunity to show our credentials as a site that will be heavily involved with ATWQ.

I agree with Dante. But mind that most of the proposed slogans are actually ATWQ-related (only exception being "as bitter as wormwood"). "Answering all the wrong questions" is good but I think a little obvious, especially compared to its predecessor: "Noble enough" was/is very subtle and only insiders know that it's ASoUE related; this makes 667 sound more inclusive. And I think the same goes if we'd use one of the Ink Inc slogans.

I'm up for "For writing that matters..." , and pre-ATWQ I think "Bitter as Wormwood" would have been good as well. I think it does have to be as subtle as Noble Enough, and one of the Ink Inc. Slogans fits this criterion. I thought of two other slogans from Chapter Four: "The Sensible Choice" and "A fire in the mind". These probably suck though.

My only concern about some of the ATWQ ones is that they'd be too obscure. I think "The Sensible Choice" works quite well aside from that aspect; it took me a moment to remember where it came up. And the Ink Inc. slogans are exclusively from paratextual promotional material.

And the Ink Inc. slogans are exclusively from paratextual promotional material. I see your point their. For a purely non-667 fan, it would be baffling as to what it meant. In a few years this promo material will probably be all but forgotten

All right then! I see the most support for the following two slogans:
For writing that matters, and other matters Answering the Wrong Questions
Would most people feel comfortable with one of these, or is there another someone feels must absolutely be included?
