I have two questions, and I apologize if they have already been asked but; was it ever said what Esme's maiden name was? And if so, what was it? And also, what happened to Bruce? I think the last time we see him was with the Snow Scouts in TSS, but then I don't remember him appearing again after that.

1. No, it's never said what Esmé's maiden name is. Some people have suggested that it's the second of her middle names (she gives her full name as Esmé Gigi Geniveve Squalor, so the theory goes that her full maiden name was Esmé Gigi Geniveve), but the U.A. implies that before she married she had a surname we didn't know, since it was smudged in the program for the performance of One Last Warning to Those Who Try to Stand in My Way (which Lemony reviewed, if you recall). 2. Bruce appears to have been at the Hotel Denouement; in Chapter Ten one of the people calling out of the windows addresses him directly, and in Chapter Thirteen a man is mentioned calling for Bruce. This figures, since the sinister duo are implied to be taking their captives to the Hotel Denouement, although strangely, the quotes referring to Bruce imply that he's free rather than captive.

Sorry, for the delay. It's been a couple of months but I wanted to say thanks for you answers. To be honest I actually don't remember any mentioning of Bruce in TPP. I guess I'll just read the book again. And yeah, that does seem strange if they are mentioning him in a way that suggests he's free. Maybe it's a different Bruce?.....

It would be strange to have two characters of the same name identified as being around the same place who aren't the same person - although we have similar problems with Monty's assistant Gustav and Gustav Sebald.
