I do love a happy ending.
Edit: For anyone skipping to this page, pretty much the last half of the story is on the previous one.
Well. Much to comment on here. Chapter Nine was huge and very tense. It's always interesting to hear how the villains behave when they think there's nobody around to hear them. All that Grimstone, though. Gothic Works clearly have greater plans than simply knocking off all the volunteers - I imagine that's more just a way of covering their backs, disposing of the only people who might have an inkling of what they're really capable of. Duncan's crush - an ongoing character-based mystery that gets a lot more twisted when you mix up Isadora and Isabella. That ship has so sailed, Duncan. Let it go. Also: Gothic Works have jetpacks. Is there anything these guys don't have? I guess they had a good couple of years to get themselves together and become practically all-powerful. And I wonder who the mayor was going to sell the Grimstone to...?
Another excellent book, Tiago. It's good to see you on form again. I look forward to TMM3.

@dante: Thank you, Dante. Gothic Works certainly are packing more heat than the past villains have, although it is all thanks to a particular member of their ranks. Expect developments with Duncan's crush to happen in the next book(s). And I can't say more without spoiling. XD I'm glad you enjoyed this book.

Wow. That was fast! And I really liked the ending. It's so sad AND happy. And about Duncan's crush - I think I knew it all the time from when it was mentioned for the first time

Some bonus content; concept art for Cid, Martha and Isabella. ignore the heart and arrow pointing from Martha to Cid, that was dropped when I was writing, and Cid is actually younger than that. He's 32.

That's actually a pretty fascinating insight into your planning process, to know you visualise the characters that way. Would you say you have a strong mental image of all the characters?

@dante: Yes. With some characters it's easier, like I immediately know what they are going to look like, others change when I finally get to writing, like Cid originally was going to be a 50-something rough miner guy and then he became a handsome 32 year old engineer and a companion to the Quagmires. Some characters I write before I draw them, and then I have to adjust to that, but it works well both ways I guess. I'm definetely more fond of drawing characters I know are going to stick, but it doesn't mean I don't like to draw what I called the NPCs (yes I'm using role playing game terms) . A special favorite of mine are the settings of the stories. I love to draw them.

I like to have so many pictures of the characters and the settings because otherwise I often can not really imagine how they look like, the pictures in my head are often fuzzy, so thanks for drawing them!
