The Purim thing is interesting - is it the custom to dress up at Purim? Apparently it is, and it's nice to see another reference to Jewish culture, as we have seen many times over the course of ASoUE. I think Qwerty probably did know Snicket was sending a message, yet chose to say nothing. I hope this becomes significant later on in the novel.

Perhaps the fact that Dewey is the sub-sub-librarian is more significant than we make it out to be... after all, both Dewey and Qwerty are bookish names...

It is interesting, in a book thats very close to VFD, we haven't had any mention of those three letters...

But we've had mentions of the insignia, and Snicket's "unusual education," both of which are clearly VFD related.
