Who is JS?

There are so many JS' in the world that its easy to tell why Mr Snicket chose those initials. Comment if you know any JS'!!!!

No mention of Johann Strauss? But there certainly are a lot of J.S.s... although I'm not sure if we should suspect people who aren't mentioned in the books.

I think that JS in ASOUE is no one person, but can be Jacques Snicket, Justice Strauss, Jerome Squalor or (Olaf posing as) Julio Sham - but there's some indication there is one other JS, who is not otherwise identified. It looks as if the captain of the Prospero may have those initials, so perhaps it's him.

Yeah, I agree Dante. Do you think Mr Snicket will have some more JS' in ATWQ?

Probably not as an important element of the plot - but it seems like the sort of reference that would be very easy to make, so I wouldn't be surprised.
