For the past couple of years, I've had periods (boom boom tiss!) of depression, suicidal thoughts and severe mood swings, which lead me to lashing out and punching or slapping someone. It's all linked to my periods, so this happens for two weeks every month*, and now it's too much to handle. Just the other day I was walking home from work and for no apparent reason at all, I randomly started thinking about how everybody else would be better off without me and how exactly I should "end things". My mum can't take being punched anymore either. Together we decided I should see a doctor.
I don't know what sort of treatment I'll have (if any). I'd rather not use birth control, but I'll just have to see what the doctor suggests. Hopefully something will work, though, whether it's hormone therapy, counselling or dietary changes. .... Sigh...Being a woman sucks...
*But once I start, it goes away completely as if nothing's happened. Until the next month.

I'm always so sorry to hear about period-linked problems, partially because I know from friends how many different kinds of awful it can be, and partially because as a male, I'll never have the right experience to understand it. All I can say is that it must be scary and difficult to be led to think and act in ways you haven't planned, and offer my sympathies and, as far as possible, support.

Wishing you strength for this Beth! I hope that with help you can overcome this illness and be able to live freely again. Always know that there'll be at least one person out there to miss you (me) and I'm sure heaps of others too! I even miss you being around now, and wish you were around more often so we could get to know one another better I have faith that you can do this, good luck Beth! <3<3<3

Just fyi this doesnt happen to every female who has periods, the majority of us just have a totally normal time, just clearing up any *misconceptions*. Beth, I really hope you get the help you need, and that it works out for you and you feel better soon.

I know, I was referring specifically to Beth and others who have a particularly hard time about it. I figured that even women who don't must be slightly better equipped to follow than I am. =)

So for the past few weeks I've been part of a group on Facebook which my sister added me to. The group was created in memory of a kid that passed away, because a lot of people that have graduated have committed suicide or OD on heroin. So it was set up as a safe space for local kids to kind of chat about mental health and LGBT issues.
Since then it has very quickly evolved into something else and there is now a mindset in the group that essentially if your posts don't line up with the mods point of view you get banned. There is a lot more involved in what happened but it just sort of got me thinking back to 667 and our mod approach. Not sure if I should have just made a new thread but, if you start a group for mental health and then go on alienating people that don't share your point of view on very political and personal subjects, and then remove them for the safety of others, is it no longer a safe space? Someone posted intespinse to an incident that happened bc they had a question about it and was subsequently banned.
I feel like if I was a relative of this person who had passed away (his name is literally in the about me page) I would be concerned with what the group has become.
I have since left the group because if I need mental health support I would much rather come here, but what do you guys think? Is it right to ban someone for simply asking a question or voicing an opinion? I don't know the whole thing really bothered me especially seeing how far we've come here as both a board, and for the mods as mods.

I'm sorry to hear that, Glittery. It sounds like a lot to cope with at once. If you ever need to talk/vent, feel free to message.
