Top right corner of quick reply box like posts Ah, thanks. So, what do people think of this 'following' thing? It worries me a bit - it seems designed to sort people into groups.

I think the following thing is a little useless, because most of us know each other. I think I'll just follow almost everyone.
I don't think it's sorting people into groups, because everyone can still read everyone's posts and send each other PMs and everything. I don't think it will make a difference.

1. How do I reply? (Properly, with preview.) As Bee says, this can be found at the top right of the Quick Reply boxes. Testing this on your most recent post, it seems to indicate the members who approve of a certain post. I had the same problem. I imagine that this will be fixed. I'm rather inclined to agree about the "following" function. But, as with everything else, I'm sure we'll adjust.

I agree about the "following" thing, Hermes, but for now it seems okay, and we all know each other anyway. I think it's for those other Proboards forums with lots of more members and much more activity. Also, wow, this layout will need some getting used to. I hope we'll have the 667 banner up again soon. Oh, and I just noticed that all members' "Karma" seems to have gone for good. I don't think that's a bad idea actually. I think what annoys me the most is that you can't click on "next page" at the bottom of a thread's page. You have to scroll all the way back up to click on another page in the thread. This is really unpractical. Also what does the "select post" thing do? And if you use it often, I recommend just bookmarking the "Newest Posts" link ( here you go) so you don't have to go to the bottom of the Homepage every time.

Aren't the page links hovering in a bar at the top of the screen for you? That is, it isn't necessary for me to scroll to the top to access new pages, because the page links are always directly below the address bar. I could take a screenshot if that helps to clarify.

The following thing seems silly to me. I think Proboards is just trying to be more trendy and more like other social networks. I don't think I'll be following anyone for now.

I think something they should do but looks like they haven't is that things like new shouts in the shoutbox and new notifications are visible without refreshing the page.

I agree with what you said Pen. The following thing is kind of pointless and they're trying to be like twitter/facebook..like they're calling it 'freinds' when two people are following eachother...i mean really, c'mon ProBoards be original

The shoutbox does have its own refresh button (top right), but it doesn't seem to refresh automatically.

I think the following thing would make sense on a board with hundreds of people, where you wouldn't have time to follow everything. But on a board like this just checking the latest posts is enough to let you know what is going on. The reason I think it might divide people into groups is that you can see who is following who, so it will identify who people's friends are.

I don't know if anyone cares about this anymore, but I've noticed that the members list no longer has the option of showing top posters, or ranking people by post count. Instead it's alphabetical by display name.
Edit: You can filter by maximum or minimum post count (by clicking the barely-visible tiny button to the right of the search box), but it still doesn't use that to rank users.

Antenora. I found this yesterday, just look at All Posters. Then click the 'Posts' header to sort by posts.

Testing this on your most recent post, it seems to indicate the members who approve of a certain post. So this replaces karma? But does it have any visible effect, or does it just notify the author of the post?
