Even with a cold there are ways to manage yourself and get things done without infecting others. Diligent hand hygiene and proper cough covering technique combined with avoiding physical/breath contact both limit the amount of germ transmission possible. Like Bee said, if you're vomiting incessantly you shouldn't be out, but life shouldn't completely shut down with minor illnesses. When I had 2-hour lectures on nursing theory I wasn't about to skip one because of a runny nose and sore throat. ickle that. On the other hand, there are certain fields like food service or medicine you really shouldn't go to work when sick because the chances of you spreading your illness are much higher. I had a cold last week and I missed a day of work because 1. there is no way to avoid prolonged, direct physical contact and 2. the people I work with are already immunocompromised. You just have to know the difference. But, in this world, there are many people who simply cannot afford to take sick days, even when they truly are sick. Like selfishness with grades, in their situations I'd probably give more of a damn about feeding my family than getting other people sick. I'm a nurse so everything I say on this matter is right. Yes Yes Yes

Also I'm not saying anyone should not wash their hair everyday when they like to do that, you just shouldn't say it's "gross" if other people don't, because different people have different hair and different skin, so for some it might be bad to do it, and also you probably don't even notice.

Yeah true. I haven't seen much of your hair, but it looks beautiful in all the pictures I've seen, so keep doing what you're doing???

That was what I was talking about when I said it's a good thing that we are allowed to stay at home when we are ill. If those who can do that just decide to not take this offer, nobody will think that it's necessary.
