Tell us about your job or any jobs you have had in the past! Be it an interesting one or a boring one, be it merely a summer job, an internship or a career; tell us about any cool experiences or just whether it was okay or not okay at all.
Discussion rules: Try to avoid asking specific questions, like "Which particular fast food chain store did you work in?" or "What're the names of your co-workers?". The original poster is free to reveal as much or as little information as s/he'd like. Instead, go for general questions like "How did you like it there?" or "How much of a d*ck was your boss?".

I guess I should start this off; I've worked at an amusement park for half a year at different attractions. It's not as fun as it sounds, but at least it wasn't a boring environment. Sometimes it was alright, like washing 3D glasses or watching out if kids met the required height, but it could be exhausting and stressful, like securing people's seats at the rollercoasters or organizing differently sized groups of guests into non-stopping 8-seat-boats.

Hey good thread idea, you're a funny guy. Question: I'm 153cm tall, can I go on all the rides? Also I think I might know where you worked. I volunteered in a library and am due to start a job in ~retail~ come summer. I also used to sell essays along with some friends to some less academically able students.

Hey thanks, and yeah, I think you could go on all the rides. Not if you were 4cm shorter, though! Volunteering at a library is definitely VFD-level cool. Selling essays, on the other hand, sounds less than legal.

lol, I would totally have bought essays from people even if I could get better marks with my own, just because I'm lazy.

Never worked a day in my life, I'm a spoiled little brat.
School is enough for me to stress over. Getting into a good college might actually get me insane by the end of 2015 or sooner. I still need to figure out what the potato I want to do with my life

I have a high demand shelving job at my city's library; and I don't even have to worry about transportation because I have the same hours as my mom, who's the head bookmobile driver. Not that it's nepotism or anything, but it's totally nepotism.

I think everybody makes up their goals as they go along anyway. I don't intend to make a career in amusement park hosting either.

yeah but if I choose the wrong course for me, I'd have to repeat the whole getting-into-college process and just thinking about that upsets me.

I have at least three friends I can think of that have done exactly that so far and it's not that big a deal, although I remember you saying it's a little harder in Brazil. Anyway, to not derail the thread I started, choosing the wrong job is not complicated and if nothing else can make for a passable anecdote.

My first job was an after-school janitor at an elementary school. Libitina wrote a song about it; now I have to go searching through the archives until i find it. Edit: found the thread, but the song itself is no longer hosted online : asoue.proboards.com/thread/14510/who-procrastinate-songs

I did copy writing for a storage firm's website (ugh most boring job ever... Every set of 10 pages of 300 words each had to be written on exactly the same topic with exactly the same content but in different ways so that Google classes them as different pages...); I did some promotional blogs for companies, most enjoyable a Venetian Mask company which was good fun (and they payed well yayy!!); some Journalism for papers on a freelance basis -- I did have a deal set up to write a column in our county newspaper but then the editor changed and the new one wasn't so keen :L . But I stopped all the jobs going into my second year of A levels so I could focus on studies

I used to help with some children groups from church, and also I did some other thing with looking after children in some summer holidays a few years ago. For one year I worked at a weird school. I'm also a dancing teacher sometimes, I used to do that more regularly but now I have some university stuff on Thursday afternoon where there is also thee dancing class that I was teaching. Also I'm helping some guy to learn English and French for school because he isn't good at that, and his marks actually got better.
So somehow it is/was all stuff with children or teaching, even though I don't really like working with children or people in general, but that's somehow the only thing they let you do here without having some qualifications which is not a full time job. I wish I could do something like a library job too.

Yeh all my stuff seems to be promotional writing which I didn't really intend and which is, for the most part, dull as hell. When I get to Uni I would love to become a student librarian

I think a dull job would be cool for me. I love boring things.
