I don't completely understand how everyone can make such a drama about that dress, but I understand even less how people can find something annoying after such a short time.

^so right The confusion seems to be caused just by the crappiness of the photo's quality. It's almost like people arguing about a picture where someone looks like they have red eyes; most people know they weren't red in reality, but that's what they look like on the picture. The dress is supposedly blue&black in real life; if that's true then in the photo it is just overexposed to the point of it being impossible to tell. There's no trace of black, only a golden brown. The blue part is (for me) visibly a light blue, but because of the highly ambiguous lighting, I interpret it to be white in reality (outside the picture) having been given its blue-ish tint by the surroundings and camera sensor. It's interesting that the perception supposedly alternates for some people though. Note that other, better photos of the dress are not being disputed; everybody sees it as black&blue. I thought the same, but when I looked at the picture again a while later, I could actually see the black. Now I'm back to white&gold mostly, but at first glance I can still see the blue&black.

That article is pretty Eurocentric, but blue animals are still pretty rare. I can think of bluejays and peacocks.

There are quite many blue/partially blue birds (don't forget the parrots), or butterflies, or poisonous frogs, which I'm sure people who've been living in tropic forests needed to identify. I'm also pretty sure the Incas used blue precious stones in jewelry.
The circle with green squares is pretty interesting though. I'm sure it's similar with the Inuit's different words for different kinds of snow - it makes them notice the differences in snow texture, while others largely ignore it.

also (had to google this translation) the hyacinth macaw, plenty of insects and I'm pretty sure some frogs and snakes. it's like whoever wrote that gave it one second of thought and said "yep I give up there are no blue animals".
edit: oops, terry was a couple of minutes ahead of me.
