I've noticed we have more (slightly???) than the usual amount of frequently visiting new members, and also that there seems to be a far more active lemony snicket discussion/fanbase on tumblr. With the approaching volume of atwq, and the netflix series, I really think we should do more to attract new members as we are (omg i never thought i would succumb to this hackneyed line) first and foremost a lemony snicket forum.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Dragging people away by their ankles is the only method I've managed to conceive so far.

We could dress up in various costumes and follow people around, trying scheme after scheme to get them into our clutches in order to get our hands on their fortunes memberships?

you could link to the forum on tumblr so the aforementioned fanbase can congregate here

Another very plausible suggestion, good work. you could link to the forum on tumblr so the aforementioned fanbase can congregate here This is obviously the most obvious idea- but I was (and still am) serious in posting this thread, and we need some other suggestions about how to 'recruit' members from elsewhere, which is what I am appealing for. Also this thread has been anouncementised (ly sherry ann).

Reactivating old threads about the books or the plot (especially because there are a lot of them from 2009 or before) would be nice.
Maybe some thing-a-week stuff, like "Social Sunday" to get to know each other and involve new members, or "Theory Thursday" to discuss an specific theory proposed by someone or voted by the users, or "Fanart Friday" to propose an idea for artwork and/or fanfic and choose the best one? I think there can be a user in charge of each day to create new stuff.
And a new design would be cool too!

Perhaps I'll make an effort, nearer September, to return to notice several of the more relevant speculation threads in the ATWQ section, but it takes two to tango. I can arrange discussions as much as I like, but it won't make people turn up or magic into being fresh material or ideas. One thing that is worth noting is that there's a bump in activity whenever new information emerges - which, I should note, is often specifically from me digging it up ahead of official announcements.
Edit: I did mean to add that I also support the suggestion for a new design, theme, or banner, though; the present banner arrangement of one quite clearly being pasted on top of the other is very strange.

the present banner arrangement of one quite clearly being pasted on top of the other is very strange. I've been meaning to point that out for several months. At the very least, remove the purple underneath poster and leave just the ?3 orange. I think though, that it would be good to divide the banner into four sections and have bits of images from each book (we have enough for ?4 from the cover alone, I think). I presume there used to be a banner utilising images from ?1 before I arrived. Although the "667 Dark Avenue" text would have to be in a colour that's easily visible against blue, purple, orange and green: perhaps white with a black outline.

Perhaps he could arrange for you to use some previously unseen interior illustration from ?4, provided the banner doesn't come up before the release day.

Great! That would give the banner an edge and make me feel special. Dante, hit me up.

I asked Tragedy about the layered banners when they were first put into place, but apparently it doesn't show up that way on his computer. As for combining all four books, though, I rather like theming them one installment at a time as a sort of promotional strategy/milestone marker, with the combined version appearing a few months after the release of the final installment. If people don't agree, however, it's worth mentioning that Egmont provides the high-quality Seth illustrations on their website (scroll to bottom) with each release. They're useful to have on file, especially since Dante's supplier (despite his/her/their generosity) isn't exactly predictable.
