So this is the ending of TBB, but with.... an added twist reveal of Bertrand?? Is this a massive spoiler?

Thanks for all the welcomes!! Count Omet, I feel like I recall that scene as well. Maybe it is a deleted or alternate scene on the dvd? Or violetbunfortunate is correct, I can see that too As to the second script scrap posted (love that phrase btw), Who is Father??? Why is he in jail?! This seemingly comes at the end of TBB as the newspaper seems to be talking about The Marvelous Marriage play I think, and I remember Snicket speaking of the word Aberrant at the end of book 1 I believe. I think there was probably one more page to that script but it was the end of the episode too likely, considering the numbers show there had been 84 scenes prior in that episode. I am loving what I'm seeing of the scripts. They are giving me a lot of faith toward this adaptation. Btw, Count Omet, you mentioned "the writers know what they're doing." Last year I found an article about an event D.H. attended where he said that he was writing the scripts. Do we know if there are other writers working as well and who they are? Most shows have a staff of writers but there are a few who just use one very creative person (such as Mr. Robot). I think Handler could definitely write the show on his own, but that's not very common. Netflix is a different beast altogether though.

So this is the ending of TBB, but with.... an added twist reveal of Bertrand?? Is this a massive spoiler? 'Father' doesn't have to be Bertrand ... and I mean, he would be dead by this point (obviously there's a lot of mystery in the series about whether or not either parent survived but by the end I would say it's pretty clear that they didn't) unless they're taking a very different angle with things ... I think right now it's anyone's guess who 'Father' is. It could even be Count Olaf referring to himself as the Baudelaires' father, and maybe they've changed the ending for TBB so that Olaf is briefly captured, who knows?

I was rather thinking whether this might be a spoiler for us, revealing that they've changed the storyline in at least one important way (one parent not dead?). But it's true, it can be any character's father. Still, the implication from this piece of the script is strongly hinting at the Baudelaire's father... which could very well be DH leading us by the nose.

the writer of the book is from Portland and the title, Klickitat, is a street in Portland. when i visited my brother i went to Klickitat to see the statues of Beverly Cleary characters. however this book appears to be young adult fiction so i doubt i will read it. i bet my mom will like it; i'll give you her verdict instead of mine

Re: Comet's memory of a scene from the movie of Gustav being drowned, I haven't paid attention to the visual in a while (I usually just listen to the commentary while I'm doing something else), but I distinctly remember a scene (maybe a deleted scene?) of Aunt Josephine asking Captain Sham where a "Captain Sam" had gone, followed by a cutaway scene of the actual captain, bound and gagged, being lowered into the lake.
As for the book club deliveries, once again they look really neat, and once again they've reminded me that I continue to forget to mail my application in. Someday I will buy a stamp and actually remember to use it for its intended purpose.

I got the same stuff as the other book club members: And a piece of the script I don't think we've seen before: (Transcript collapsed below.)
The scripts bear and I got appear to have a watermark - I can clearly see "dler" so I would guess it says "handler", but there appears to be text after that word and perhaps before it. Oddly enough, although olivine got the same script, I don't think hers has a watermark.

Great to see the new script with Lemony's narration and his escape from his office -- and I love that he was packing up items related to the Baudelaires in his suitcase.

It's worth a shot I think. I didn't send my letter until after the first packages but I was accepted.

so i think we can assume the scripts we got are sequential. it seems to be a montage of characters as the story of TBB ends, plus a sneak peek of TRR. gliquey's scrap, then my/olivine's scrap, then pevalwen's scrap, then aaccss's scrap.

Maybe that's their way of adapting the tradition of the books having something reference the next volume in the last illustration. That'd be so cool.

I think it's a good way to make sure the show doesn't feel choppy either. By incorporating TRR people early, it allows everything to flow much nicer than it would if they tried to keep everything separate.
