the shoutbox should stop being the kanyechat, because the important things i have to say about kanye keep disappearing. so here's the thread where my boy pepmint and i can talk about God's Gift Kanye Omari West.
kanye finally dropped his album, THE LIFE OF PABLO, and it is extremely inconsistent. but here's my ranking of the songs from top to bottom
1. Ultralight Beam 2. Real Friends 3. FML 4. Feedback 5. Fade 6. 30 Hours (minus the second half) 7. No More Parties In LA 8. Freestyle 4 (minus the first half) 9. Famous (minus the first half) 10. Waves 11. Highlights 12. Father Stretch My Hands Part 2 13. Part 1 14. Wolves 15. Facts
plus those filler things.

I have yet to finish the album bc school is on in a couple mins but I loved Ultralight Beam and No More Parties in LA the most. Real Friends was dope too but FML I have mixed feelings about. The rest was alright.

The rest was alright. FML is amazing, how can you not like that high energy kanye verse in the middle. also that bizarre pitched-up sample at the end.

i've come to the cold hard truth that Chance's guest verse in Ultralight Beam is the best verse on the whole album. also another cold hard truth is that this new album cements kanye's best talent as putting together the best talent of other people.

When Kanye says 'I made that magee famous' I kinda think it was the other way around.

the college dropout (2004) ended the gangsta rap era and popularized soul beats
late registration (2005) gave kanye some major hits and popularized orchestral beats
808s & heartbreak (2008) gave kanye his biggest hit yet and influenced basically all pop rap in the last decade
the imma let you finish incident (2009) made kanye take a short hiatus. then he went on and made some more masterpieces.
i gues taylor might have been somewhere in there too? maybe? and if you want to just go by public outcries instead of critical/commercial success, i think taylor was trying to become a country singer when kanye made his "george bush doesn't care about black people" comment?

the coolest thing taylor has done is feature kendrick while the coolest thing kanye has done is like reinvent hip hop every album

i love kanye west, he has a lot of music i like and i think he has a lot of things to say that are valid but often get overlooked for the more sensational things he says.
