Hey, so we're going to Comicon here in Portland on Saturda. I've been waffling over whom to go as, and I finally decided on Lemony. I'm an adult, so I'll obviously be going as grown Lemony from ASOUE, as opposed to ATWQ. I've got a suit (several), so that's no problem. I'm going to have a friend draw the eye on my ankle, and I'm going to bring a commonplace book. Besides a bowler hat, is there anything else that you think I should do to enhance the look? Thanks.
My wife is going as Doctor Barlow from the Leviathan series, but I can just tell people that she's Beatrice.
I think a portable typewriter would be the crowning piece in a Lemony cosplay - the more obviously battered, the better. You've probably got this already, but you should also make sure to wear a regular tie rather than a bow tie, to keep in line with the ATWQ illustrations. Maybe smoke a fake* cigarette or something, as a reference to the insinuation that L was the taxi driver in TPP (I haven't checked, but he's smoking a cigarette, isn't he?).
If you don't mind showing them afterwards, I'd be curious to see some photograph of a Lemony cosplay. =)
*I say fake because I don't want anyone to think I condone smoking.
Adult Lemony is usually depicted wearing a fedora (and definitely not a trilby) rather than a bowler hat. Colouration for his outfit is hard to tell, since the photographs are generally monochrome, but for that very reason you can't go wrong with grey. Make a point of avoiding showing your face, especially if you're in sight of a camera. Put a sugar bowl in your pocket and occasionally take it out and weep. It's kind of hard to give much advice, though. He tries not to be particularly noticeable or distinguishable.

I always pictured the colour of his suit as khaki for some reason.
Smile now, cry later.
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: If anyone has a banner of mine that's missing due to TinyPic shutting down, you can get it back from my Arts+Crafts thread, here, where I've re-uploaded all of them to a new server.
The posting of pictures is quite perilous (a word which here means quite dangerous), but I'll comply. I won't show my face, for reason both in keeping with our miserable author's habits and cuz you wouldn't want to see my face anyway.
Well, here it is. I got recognized as Lemony once. The girls behind us in line for John Barrowman noticed my commonplace book. My wife did the tattoo (not visible in the picture) and the commonplace book. She went ahead and filled it with quotes from the miserable author as a surprise to me.
