Time for the most racist awards ceremony since the oscars.
I'm presenting an award. But in order to keep things different and (supposedly) interesting, i'm going to present my award slowly over the course of this whole weekend. I'm also not going to reveal what the award isj ust yet. #fun But I haven't won the award (which I guess is why i'm presenting it). I didn't even get any votes.

Best Writinglorelai , mallet , Linda Rhaldeen , Esmé's meme is meh , Dante and Sixteen , you have all been summoned here to this darkened room for one reason: so I can present this award in peace away from Hermes and M’s prolonged discussion about the exact nature and name of the award itself. We had a #darkiesscandal with this one - because why not - when Pandora plagiarised and elevated a probably rather dull Teletubbies story by turning it into a dubious chronicle of one of 667’s couples. Anyway, hurrah for 667 housing awesome writers. As we don’t have an award for reading, or one for collecting copies of TBB, Best Writing (or whatever we call it), is the award most closely related to 667’s origin. Mr Handler would probably be proud of all you guys, unless you put glasses on tables without using coasters or do something equivalent. Alright, alright, you can leave the darkened room once I’ve properly introduced the nominated pieces of writing: A Night At The Opera by Zortegus He should write more because it’s an awesome concept and I volunteered for it and salsa. Wicked 667 Style by Linda Rahldeen Linda’s herculean piece of musical-adapting. In Good Company by mallet Another story involving a musical I don’t particularly care about, but hey, it was a TB8 fic. Thursday Tea by lorelai Yay time for some straight-up Snicket writing, the quantity of which, as Dante remarked, has dwindled in the last few years. So you go lorelai for creating some more. Chapter 5 of "Unsung Heroes" by Sixteen As it turns out we have quite a bit of good ol’ Snicket fic. I missed this when it came out but I now find it was actually quite beautiful. Nice work. ?g: "Was That Real?" by Dante There was an overwhelmed forum, and there was a long and meticulously crafted piece of writing, and there was a writer who can’t spell badly. DUN DUN DUN The winners are 667 Wicked Style and Thursday Tea! Linda and lorelai, you may now defy gravity out of here and go get some hot beverages to celebrate. Well deserved.

Woo, conga rats! Someone should do a 667/asoue/musical thing.
Also, Pandora doesn't win the award i'm presenting either. She was nominated though (and there was no #darkiesscandal), she just didn't get any votes. Wow, i'm really rubbing it in here ain't I?

Congrats Linda and Lorelai! Is this going to be another year of the ties? Good to see both Snicketfic and 667fic getting prizes, celebrating the two faces of 667.

Like a very fancy doily, a rag doll, or a straitjacket, this forum is held together by threads. The soul of 667, some may say, is in the replies – from witty rejoinders to vigorous debates to the occasional non-sequitur – but without the innovators and originators who begin threads in the first place, and the ideas that inspired or provoked them, where would the replies be? But just as the thread makes the replies, so the replies make the thread. Threads live and breathe on the ideas, the conversation, the discoveries, and, occasionally, the outrage they beget, post after post accreting into a worm of discussion feeding on this forum as on an apple or a cadaver. Both topic starter and replies make up the totality of what we’ve come together today, or at least in this moment, to celebrate – funny threads, creative threads, investigative threads, just plain insane threads, threads I’ve locked, and the one of them that is, quite simply, the Best Thread for 2016, even if it wasn’t actually posted this year. With twelve contestants, it’s a crowded field. I’ve taken the time to read all of them, and let me tell you, what a waste – I mean, what a display of the forum’s “talent”! This could be a tough decision and a very tight race. The nominations run the gamut of subjects, and as they represent the diverse interests of this forum – perhaps more significantly, its diverse senses of humour – so too will the responses in vote form. What does 667 Dark Avenue mean to you? What are you here for? Your vote might just say it all, and the result might just represent the character of the forum. Or will there be one runaway frontrunner of such dazzling genius that all opposition falls away before it? The time has come to find out! Right after we remind ourselves of the nominees: Dogs by Linda Rhaldeen – does what it says on the tin, and certainly is the earliest nominee to be predicted as a potential winner of this award! 667 Nursery Rhymes by soufflé - Sophie hoped to pass the time / With some lightly comical rhymes, / Passable meter, dubious theme / Will it be Best Thread of 2016? To Bear by Esmé's meme is meh – easily the shortest thread to be nominated, comprising eight words, a .gif, and another awards prediction! My wife by @peppermince – celebrity spouses, surprising age differences, musical genre discussion, and a six-month gap halfway through, this “strong contestant” for Most Pretentious Thread 2016 has it all! For a certain definition of “all.” A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Musical by Esmé's meme is meh – did you know that the ASoUE movie could have been a musical? That’s not what this thread is about, but it still manages to ask “What if?” the worst thread by Reba – despite the title, it’s actually asking which other threads have the potential to be the worst, but the joke will still work if it wins! #HotTakes by Teleram – Best Joke Nomination For Best Thread 2016 2016 (runner-up). ASoUE Netflix Series: Mega post by ryantrimble457 – a rare serious entry into the poll, this up-to-date collection of information on the latest incarnation of Lemony Snicket’s work is a goldmine of information for the adaptation adherent. Let's split up and look for clues by A comet crashing into Earth – a community riddle-solving project, following the proud tradition of former admin All Due Respect. The Raddest Book Covers by Reba – a thread which suggests that to find the true spirit of radness, you must look inside yourself. Bad Poetry by Poe's Coats Host Toast – the purest expression of modernity in human culture, concentrating your efforts on creating something bad. Accurate book titles by soufflé – “These Books Are Bad And So Are You For Liking Them” (accurate thread title). And the Darkies-approved Best Thread 2016 is…

Congrats Ryan (and all in that thread)! Your thread is the most exciting place on 667 at the moment. Oh, don't say that, Dante. This is more like the second incarnation of the VFDoor, so say rather the proud tradition of Gigi... No, wait. Mister M, I think I may know what your award is.

So, the stage has been empty for a little while now. Does that mean I can just go up and take the mic? Hm, well, I guess I already have. I'll just go ahead. *Ahem*Hello, hello, hello. I am your beloved Comet, and I've been given the honour of presenting what I think can easily be considered the most prestigious award in the Darkies awards ceremony. The title of Most Compassionate is awarded for a unique merit – not any measurable skill, but something far more important. But before I reveal who the winner is, let's ask ourselves what this award really means. The Most Compassionate award is an expression of the admiration of our community on a moral, personal and social level. The winner of this award can call themself likeable and, in the unlikely event that anyone contradicts them, have the papers to prove it. But before I reveal who the winner is, let's have a look at the numbers: This year, 220 votes have been given in the thirteen Darkies categories. Sixteen of these have been in the Most Compassionate category, placing it just below the average of 16.9 votes per category. “ Below the average?”, I can hear you marveling. Surely, if this is such an important award, that can't be right? But I assure you, I am speaking the truth. A vote for Most Compassionate, you see, is not lightly given, and there are good reasons for that. As abstract as the category is, it can be very difficult to choose just one of the many compassionate members who were nominated in this year's competition. However, one nominee has won the category by a single vote, with no less than three others sharing the second place – surely an expression of how many compassionate people we have on 667. But before I reveal who the winner is, let's go through the nominees. The nominees are: -Hermes , 667's resident grown-up with the emotional maturity to match. -@peppermince , a relative newcomer who has charmed us all by way of his people skills and intriguing relationship with Bandit. -Linda Rhaldeen , the uncrowned queen of OOthers, who never fails to entertain, and is currently organising this year's VFD Big Brother along with: -Esmé's meme is meh , who skillfully and balances his social roles as the voice of reason and a really fun guy with cool interests. -penne , who knows how to ask all the right questions in MMisc. -Charlie , whose all too long periods of absence only make our hearts grow fonder. -Kit's tits kick ticks , whose rare combination of organisational and people skills ensures a minimal number of bumps in the road in the many events and traditions she arranges on 667. -sophie , who possesses a powerful ability to think up serious and interesting discussion subjects, and yet handles them with a sense of humour and irony that we can all appreciate. -Cafe SalMONAlla , whose good taste and accepting nature makes her fun and easy to be around. There's no denying that all of our nominees have shown great compassion to each other and the rest of us during the year – but did you notice anyone missing? That's because I still have one nominee to mention, and I don't mind saying at this point that I am indeed talking about the winner of the award. The Most Compassionate Member of 2016 is... Lorelai! You've only been a member for half a year, but in that time, you've managed to make a great impression on all of us. Your general acceptance, understanding and nice behaviour has affected many of us directly, and your presence is influencing 667 only in the best of ways. lorelai , congratulations on your award. You deserve it!
