Hey, list your fav comedians and/or comedy albums! I guess I'll start. As mentioned before, I recently discovered Tig Notaro through her Good One album (fav track might be the No Moleste bit). I also discovered Tom Papa today, started listening to Freaked Out, which is pretty hilarious. Chris D'Elia is also someone I've been digging since a few months. My all-time faves are: Dave Chapelle Louis CK Bill Burr Dylan Moran Steven Wright (album: I Have a Pony; but also check out his Oscar-winning short film, The Appointments of Dennis Jennings) Mitch Hedberg (in the vein of S. Wright) Derek & Clyde Zach Galifianakis Todd Barry (album: From Heaven, f.ex.) Steve Coogan and the amazing Andy Kaufman.

I was going to write Dylan Moran, but then I remembered that I still haven't got around to watching his actual stand-up. Black Books is brilliant, though.
Hm, who else? I'm not so much into stand-up comedy in general, actually, but everyone around me seems to be, so I've had a lot of second-hand exposure to Danish comedians. I've also watched a bunch of british panel shows, so you can pretty much figure out the selection I have to choose from. All of that being said, Dara O'Briain is really, really funny sometimes. He's going on my list.
I actually had to be reminded who Steve Coogan was this morning. Turns out he was the same person as he's always been. I've seen one thing with Alan Partridge, but I know him from The Trip and Tristram Shandy, and he's pretty good, too! Though Rob Brydon can be hilarious as well, so maybe I don't have a fair sample to judge him from.

i don't really care what your preferred order of how you consume comedy is, bro I actually had to be reminded who Steve Coogan was this morning. Turns out he was the same person as he's always been. I've seen one thing with Alan Partridge, but I know him from The Trip and Tristram Shandy, and he's pretty good, too! Though Rob Brydon can be hilarious as well, so maybe I don't have a fair sample to judge him from. If those are the only two Coogan projects you know, I highly recommend I'm Alan Partridge (situational comedy, co-written by Armando Iannucci)! [just realized that's off topic, though, as it isn't stand up... oops] I haven't heard of Brydon or O'Briain, so I'll check em out!

i didn't say that to disparage your thread, it was to clarify that my opinions about stand up should be taken with a grain of salt, because i rarely watch it.

I see; fair enough. There's a lot to choose from, though, you might find someone you enjoy more than you thought you would.

Nope. Films about cancer are kinda tough for me to watch because of personal reasons, but I do like how she handles the topic in her stand up sometimes.

i'm watching the jim gaffigan show (jim gaffigan is a good stand up comedian, but his show is better). there's an episode where jim's wife gets cat-called by a construction worker who turns out to be tig notaro

lol I think that alone might make me give his show a shot. (Also wouldn't have expected you to like Gaffigan)

I wasn't really impressed with what I've seen before either. Yesterday I gave his show's first two episodes a try, but it's only marginally better. He's ok, but a bit too bland for me.
