Greetings. Having recently finished reading the entirety of A Series of Unfortunate Events to my boys at bedtime (what kind of monster parent am I!), we were excited to discover that Netflix was about to come out with its series, which we hadn't even heard about until December, but what good timing! Looking forward to many discussions and explorations of this marvelously depressing, yet strangely hopeful, series-- both the books and the television series, which we have been enjoying so far.

Hi and welcome! I hope you'll enjoy it here. Though ASOUE is a series of children's books, I don't think there's very many members here who encountered them by reading them to their children, so I imagine you might have an interesting new perspective to bring to the discussion. If you and your boys are interested in more stories from Snicket's world, I can greatly recommend his prequel series 'All The Wrong Questions' (even if I personally prefer ASOUE).

This was actually my second read-through; my husband and I also read the series together shortly after the movie came out. I have looked forward to sharing the books with my kids ever since and finally couldn't wait any longer; it was so much fun - er, I mean, a dismal chore - to read through the whole series and I begged them on several occasions to let me stop, but alas they would not. I have read ATWQ, but thanks for the recommendation anyway I need to read it again... The one book in the Snicket universe I have not read yet in the Unauthorized Biography and that will be rectified soon as I have it on hold at the library.

Oh, my apologies, you're clearly more well-versed in Snicket than I assumed. Well, you can look forward to TUA, then. It's a different type of book, but it's hilarious and interesting.
