dearest apollonian (a word which here means 'concerned with calm and logic') scholars of these brutish books, i am, as you may have guessed, both pretentious and a Classicist. i divide my time between deciphering latin mottoes for unfathomable reasons and occasionally reading wordy and upsetting young adult literature, such as this series. now, a slightly less alliterative and loquacious about me! - I started reading the books around fifteen years ago, i think, and absolutely loved them, being myself a sharp-toothed gourmand and bookworm with a penchant for making gewgaws from an insular family whom no-one really liked. however i am thankfully neither an orphan nor sadly as clever as the baudelaires, some of my favourite fictional characters ever. Then I was lured here by snicketsleuth and the excellent netflix series.
- If you subscribe to snicketsleuth's theories, unfortunately i would be a villain. being both a dionysian (a word which here means 'someone who enjoys smoking cigars, drinking cheap wine and wearing ridiculous costumes') and a selfish b***ard I would probably end up starting a few fires.
- I'm an amateur costume maker and stupidly nostalgic for the old forums of the noughties, so hopefully i'll stick around!
- i do not like capitals.
hi y'all

Hi, Dionysian! Good to see a classicist here. Have you been to Delphi?
(I could argue about your use of the term 'young adult', but being in a cheerful welcoming mood, I won't.)

And as to if you'd call them adult books... I wouldn't be so rude. Hello fellow nerd! What's your area of expertise? At the moment I'm mostly working on sex and pottery (sometimes they combine, too). Speaking of classics and beloved books, what are your thoughts on rick riordan?

Hello vfrequentlydionysian and welcome to 667. It's nice to see someone brought here at least partially by The Snicket Sleuth, an excellent site. ooh, go on. im not a publisher so I was being personally hazy, but even if you cal asoue 'children's books' i'm pretty sure the readers, like I did, would call themselves young adults anyway. And as to if you'd call them adult books... I wouldn't be so rude. I'm 17 years old and I still feel too young to be a 'young adult'. Certainly when I first started the series I would have considered myself a child and even if you called me a child today I wouldn't be offended by it. On the other hand, maybe I'm an exception - I don't think many of my friends consider 'child' to be a description applying to anyone aged between 0 and 18.
