hi everyone! i go by hera. obviously i'm new here and it's been a long time since i've been active on web forums so i'm a tad behind on the etiquette, and very nervous, but i'm really excited to have found this site!
i read all the asoue books when i was a kid and they were a huge special interest for me (i'm autistic). more recently i heard about atwq and have read a lot about them but as of yet haven't been able to read them due to accessibility issues, although that's looking to change soon! i love talking theories & analysis although i'm sure most of what i have to say has already been said.
other than the world of lemony snicket, i particularly enjoy audio dramas and dc comics. i'm also in a lesbian punk band, which i only mention because it's the coolest thing about me.
ah okay well i'm glad to be here and hope to make some like-minded friends!

Hey Hera, welcome! Nice to have you here. Since you say you like audio dramas: I actually recently listened to one in which a main character shares your name. Any relation, or just a happy coincidence?
'Lesbian Punk Band' sounds really cool!
Have you watched the Netflix series? And if so, what did you think?

If you're talking about wolf 359 (or, as my associates call it, "crying in space"), then not a coincidence at all! I relate to her quite a bit, and it's one of my favorite shows.
i have watched the netflix series! I have mostly positive opinions about it, albeit with a couple minor complaints. As a fan of the books, I think it's a lot better than the movie (although the movie has its own objective merit). It doesn't really have the mood/atmosphere that I get from the books, but I think that's a very individual thing and also pretty hard to replicate successfully in live-action work. I liked most of the casting choices and think it strikes a nice balance between following the book plots and having its own flavor, sort of.

Hello hera, and welcome to 667! ATWQ is not as popular as ASOUE but it's a brilliant series, so hopefully you will be able to read them soon. Very little of what I write on 667 has not already been suggested by somebody in the fandom, so don't be afraid your ideas have been said before; we'd love to hear them anyway!

Hera is probably my favourite character there as well, she's had quite a few good episodes focusing on her. I only started listening to the show last month, and caught up with it this sunday, so it's nice to see another fan so soon after learning about it myself! I definitely get where you're coming from with the Netflix show. I have a few such criticism myself, but generally speaking, I'm ecstatic about it; I like to describe it as 'Under the circumstances, the best for which we can hope'.

gliquey thank you! i had a bit of an embarassing "a-ha" moment the other day with the realization that not only do libraries exist, but I go to a large one literally every wednesday evening for meetings. so, this week, I picked up the first atwq boook. I really loved it and can't wait to read the rest! and thanks for your warm welcome! A comet crashing into Earth i'm also pretty excited to meet a fellow fan! i particularly love hera and am also impossibly fond of captain lovelace . do you listen to any other audio drama? if you're interested, i have a very detailed recommendation list somewhere. & that's a pretty apt description! i eagerly await the second season. Invisible thanks! nice to meet you. i apologize if i'm not using the @ function correctly. like i said, it's been a really long time since i've used this medium, and the quote function works differently from the one i remember using.
