Hey, my name's Savannah. I'm 21. I've been lurking for a while and finally decided to de-lurk. I missed the boat for ASOUE as a kid, but got into the show this spring. I promptly binge-read the books and and fell in love with this actual depiction of emotional abuse (then watched the movie so I could share the rest of the fandom's frustration). The Ersatz Elevator and The Penultimate Peril are in a close tie for my favorite book.

Welcome to 667, Savannah. The Penultimate Peril is a very common favourite book (it's my favourite, too), but The Ersatz Elevator slightly less so - what is it that you particularly like about it?

Thanks for the warm welcomes, everyone! <3 Welcome to 667, Savannah. The Penultimate Peril is a very common favourite book (it's my favourite, too), but The Ersatz Elevator slightly less so - what is it that you particularly like about it? It's hard for me to pin down one specific thing. I'm sitting here like, the tunnel! the Baudelaires literally getting dropped into pages of darkness! I understand why the first few books were light on arc, but it was a relief to finally have a book that was almost nonstop plot development. It was the book that won me over for the long haul. And I felt like Jerome was a more gray guardian than they'd previously had, which I appreciated. In general, I feel like the books were strongest when they stayed close to the Baudelaires' home.

Hi Savannah! I hope you like it here!
I love TEE & TPP as well -- I personally really enjoy the settings of both. There's something very delightful about reading about the various districts, 667 Dark Avenue itself, the maze of rooms in the penthouse suite, and then the great bustle and confusion of the hotel in TPP.
