Congratulations on another project finished, Foxy! (For the time being, at least.) I wondered how you would handle the end of the story, structurally, and fusing the last two chapters to avoid an unlucky thirteen seems to me very - "accurate", shall we say? I look forward to a double-length Book the Twelfth to match...
To begin with, this final chapter was surprisingly difficult to relate to the original; but you established the parallels carefully in order to create moments where you didn't have to change anything at all, like "we appreciate all you've done for us" and "Cake!" And of course the conclusion is appropriately, disarmingly sentimental, and yet somehow it feels earned, however unlikely that may seem given the story's roots. Well done; I look forward to any sequels which may come.

Wow, what splendid conclusion to the story! The echoes of the original are all beautifully managed - though the 'yes, boss' passage feels rather disturbing in the light of the source. We get some insight into Ms Strauss's future career. (I do find the presence of cellphones and the like a bit surprising, given this must have taken place some years before ASOUE.) We hear more about Herbert. And it turns out that the pony was actually a donkey! (Had it escaped from the Vineyard of Fragrant, er, Grapes, I wonder?)
I'm interested to read about the three children of the doctor with perfectly normal hands. I wonder if we will see them again.
And where will the Lotsalucks go now? I'm trying to imagine what the opposite of a herpetologist might be.

I look forward to any sequels which may come. I'm working on it, but I don't want to make any promises... And it turns out that the pony was actually a donkey! (Had it escaped from the Vineyard of Fragrant, er, Grapes, I wonder?) Haha, I love that idea!

Are you going to do a kind editor letter segment or is it too cheery and happy for one?

As a matter of fact, I do have one! To My Kookie Editor, I am writing to you from the Detroit Branch of the Ornithological Society, where I am trying to find out what happened to the bird collection of Dr. Jebediah Jebediah following the terrific events that occurred while the Lotsaluck children were in his care. A lady who gets her hair done at the same salon as I do will place a large shoebox in the mailroom of the Oedipus Hotel at 11 A.M. next Saturday. Please pick it up before noon, because the mailroom closes at noon, and then you will have to wait until Monday when the mailroom opens again to retrieve the package, and let’s face it, patience isn’t your strong suit. In the box, you will find my description of these wonderfulevents, entitled THE AVIAN ATTIC, as well as a map of Lovely Loop, a copy of the music video Living People in the Rain, and Dr. Jebediah’s recipe for pineapple upside-down cake. I have also managed to track down one of the many photographs of Dr. Rucamont, in order to help Ms. Quiltrest with her illustrations. Remember, I have lots of other hopes that the tales of the Lotsaluck children can eventually be told to the general public, so if you do a poor job, I can fire you. Lots of love, Loney M. Setnick

A promising addition. Of course, since his Kind Editor is the only person Lemony Snicket can rely on, Loney M.'s relationship with her editor is much less positive. The switch to birds and an attic I think sounds like a fun alternative to the original, too. I wonder if the reason Dr. Rucamont isn't a full anagram (of course, we recall that the original Dr. Lucafont took several books to add the missing O.) is because he's a genuinely original character?
