Hi all, I'd just like to start with saying how surprised I am with how many people have been joining in with the Re-Read. I know that sometimes I haven't been able to post notes or be that active, but I'm so glad to see so many join in. As we're leaving the story of the Baudelaires this week, and looking towards Stain'd-by-the-Sea, I would like to propose a two week break before ATWQ. But why? 1. Sorry for sounding selfish, but I've got exams coming up within the next two weeks. I probably won't be around for that period, and I'm sure others partaking in the Re-Read also in education such as myself would rather have the time off. Obviously many may have already had their exams, but it's a chance for you to rest. 2. It's an appropriate time. We've come to TE and C14, after which the Snicketverse obviously changes, as we're looking at different characters and places. We all get a chance to reflect. I'm very sorry if this is inconvenient for anyone, especially with it being such short notice. If I disappear for a while, which I most likely will, I hope everyone enjoys the next two weeks off, and see you soon! Take care fellow Volunteers!

No problem! I've been struggling to keep up, so I'll be glad to have a few extra days to spread out the rest of my TE posts.

Given that there's less ATWQ material to cover anyway, we can probably afford to take our time over it. Have you considered allowing a longer period of discussion for each book?

I would like it to be more time ... I had a secret plan after the rereading to chapter 14 I've been raising questions in each of the previous books, but I think I'll need to stay for re-re-reading 2020 if there is ... I hope that in two weeks I can at least question matters at least in TBL ... Who knows in LSTUA ... PS: I hope you can do well in your exams, I admire you for reconciling your academic life with your hobby, and still help us. Thank you very much. PS.PS. - You are not being selfish ... Believe me, I know very well what it is to be selfish ... I am an expert on this ... To reach my level of selfishness you still have to work hard.

I think I might like the storyline of ATWQ more than ASOUE, so I do not mind building the suspense. Quick question, though: is File Under 13 Suspicious Incidents going to be included in the reread?

It's not my place to say, but I can't see why it wouldn't be. It's a cleaner fit than some of the ASoUE supplementary material, and very much worth discussing.

File Under 13 Suspicious is required reading for any ASOUE / ATWQ theorist ...

Thank you all very much indeed for your replies and well wishes, glad to hear that these actions are being welcomed, and that I'm not being selfish. You're all awesome! Now, to add a few answers to some questions: 1. Yes Foxy, Dante and jeanlucio10, File 13 will be included. I've not read that one, is that the one that wasn't published in the UK? Has it been now? Otherwise I'll have to dig out my old Kindle. 2. What Dante has suggested is a good idea, and one I have been considering - I'm glad I wasn't the only one struggling with the pace! So, unless anybody objects, each book will now take two weeks. So, the schedule will go: 9th June - 23rd June - Break. 23rd June - 7th July - Who Could That be at This Hour? 7th July - 21st July - When did You See Her Last? 21st July - 4th August - File 13. 4th August - 18th August - Shouldn't You be in School? 18th August - 1st September - Why is This Night Different from all Other Nights? 1st September - 15th September - Break. After that, who knows? Re-reads/reads of the Snicket picture books or Handler novels? Group discussion of Poison for Breakfast? Re-watches of the film and Netflix series? Delve into their supplementary material? Move into Leering Literature and discuss another similar book series, like Harry Potter, and compare it to Snicket (that may take a tad longer than two weeks per book I suspect)? We can do anything, but let's get through ATWQ first! 3. What jeanlucio10 and Carrie have said has inspired me to do another thing - set up a General Re-Read Discussion Thread for any matter that relates to more than one book. I'll set that up in a mo, and if whomever is pinning up these other threads (presumably Dante) could maybe permanently pin it, or just for a longer while, that'd be great! Right, had my first exam today - one down, ten to go. Like I said, won't be spending to much time on here for a few days until they're over. Take care Volunteers, it's an honour to be facilitating this Re-Read. Take care and stay safe.

Okay, speaking of Kindle: why is 13SI two separate books on kindle instead of one book? It took me all day to figure out if it was actually two different books or not, and then I even learned there are alternate solutions to the mysteries not on kindle? I've only ever read incidents 1-6 on kindle because my library doesn't have the 7-13 for me to check out on kindle, so I am getting the actually book from the library. I like all the future plans you have for re-reading, vfd! I am glad to have these discussions.

File Under: 13 Suspicious Incidents is indeed the one that wasn't published in the U.K., though there has subsequently been published a U.K. Kindle edition - which, unlike the U.S. edition, comes in only a single part. (I didn't know they'd messed up the presentation that much, though!) I didn't find it too difficult to order a hard copy, fortunately.

So you mean that to this day a lot of the English do not know what are the solutions of Lemony's cases? What cruelty ...

jeanlucio, I got the actual paper copy of the book from the library, and it is different from the Kindle version I had read in two ways.
1) It has all thirteen mysteries, as opposed to just half.
2) Each conclusion in the Sub-file B has two pages instead of one. I don't really understand the second page in a lot of them, so I am looking forward to everyone else's ideas when we do the reread.

We have the solutions of all cases, but there are 13 cases evidently missing ... This is Daniel Handler being Daniel Handler.
