I watched a few 2019 movies in 2019. So my list is going to be weird.
Batman Hush; Alita;
My Hero Academia (released in Brazil only in 2019).
These were my favorites from the ones I watched.

My favorite film from 2019 is Little Women. I might have already said that somewhere but I can't see it so I'll just say it here.

Portrait of a lady in flames is good. A Marriage Story... meh. Watchable.
Agree on Parasite tho!

I am still kicking myself for having missed "Portrait" in theatres; I'll have to settle on streaming when it comes out.
And I'm happy Bong-joon Ho has been steadily gaining the reputation he deserves. It's insane how good of a director he is. I've been a fan since "Snowpiercer" came out... my fav of his is "Mother", probably, but "Parasite" is among his best work!
Also, I hope "Uncut Gems" lives up to the hype. I really loved "Good Time", and I recently watched "Heaven Knows What" by the Safdie bros, and a few of their short films; Really dig their style.

I watched all of the Disney remakes - I am a HUGE Disney fan, and I came out of the theater very disappointed. The original Disney movies are much better. Also, I liked Toy Story 4, but not as well as other Pixar movies. I'm looking forward to the new Picard releases next year. Also, I've heard a lot about Joker, especially from my good friend, but I'm not sure if I want to watch it. I've heard Knives Out was good.

I think Joker is mainly worth watching for Joaquin Phoenix's performance (he's worth watching in all his films), but the story itself is kind of a lesser version of Scorsese' King of Comedy (1982), mixed with a bit of Scorsese's Taxi Driver for good measure. And yes, I feel like the movie has moments where it glamorizes mass-shooters and the like, which is a bit troubling. The violence towards the end seems also self-satisfyingly edgy to me without having much to say, but I'm ok with that kind of movie still having its place.
Plus, "Gotham" is so obviously NYC, and the age discrepancies between Joker and Bruce Wayne also make me think that this didn't need to be a "Joker"/Batman universe film at all, but I guess that's how they got their financing.

Watched "1917" and I gotta say it exceeded my expectations, even though I already thought it was gonna be good. I guess I thought the one-take thing was gonna be kind of a one-trick pony (though impressive) gimmick, but the whole film is really perfectly paced and incredibly immersive in a way only a film can be. The story is simple, but that makes it all the more effective, considering the characters are fleshed out, and that this is not supposed to be a literary work anyway. I guess only the score could've been a tad less bombastic (it's by our old pal Thomas Newman from the 2004 ASoUE movie, lol), but I think that about almost all Hollywood film scores (and considering that, it wasn't an obtrusive issue here).

Do you think "1917" can be watched by a niece of my 14 year old wife without being shocked by the violence? Or is there too much blood spurting, and pieces of bodies being separated from the bodies?

If you meant to say your 14-year-old niece, then yes, I would say it's safe for her to watch it, unless she's very averse to suspense. The movie obviously has violence in it, but not excessively so in any way by today's standards. If you did indeed mean to say your wife is 14 years old, then I concur: WTF.

English is so difficult for me! One day I will still be arrested for that. I wanted to say that my wife has a niece. Her niece is 14 years old. I AM NOT THE COUNT OLAF.
