For now, it doesn't seem like ATWQ is getting any kind of adaptation and I would guess that if we are ever going to get another Snicket movie/tv show, it'll either be another adaptation of ASOUE or something original. However, circumstances change all the time so who knows how it will pan out?

I would love to see ASoUE become the kind of thing that just gets perpetually remade. Like the Chronicles of Narnia. Count Olaf especially seems like the kind of role that a variety of people would want to try and put their own spin on. Personally, I think a limited series, single season animated adaptation would be cool to see. I've always thought that ASOUE and ATWQ were the kind of stories that were gift wrapped for some kind of audio dramatization. Maybe they could even bring in Daniel Handler to adapt the books himself and incorporate some of the songs he wrote the unmade musical. The BBC's radio department make tons of them every year, a lot of them even being non-British novels with some big names (both in the UK and the US) attached as actors. I'm actually kind of shocked it hasn't happened already apart from that one-off cd from 2004.

Please remember that people from Brazil would hardly have access to these types of content ...

I genuinely would not be surprised if there were to be an ASoUE musical one day, and if not for COVID-19 perhaps soon. Handler has dabbled in musicals, musical elements were added to the Netflix adaptation, Joe Tracz wrote a musical adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief - the potential is there.

The other thing I'm shocked hasn't happened yet is some kind of graphic novel adaption of the books. Comic adaptions of books have been growing increasingly popular over the last few years and ASOUE/ATWQ would be perfect material to adapt into that format.

Given how influential and memorable Helquist's covers and illustrations for the series appear to have been, having had a very direct influence on the visuals of both adaptations, then that does indeed seem surprising. For ATWQ in particular then the very illustrator also works on such formats. This does seem like an oversight.

I want to preface this by saying that the source is not anything official. It's a big fansite for Netflix that could very well have deeper connections with those involved in Netflix world... or not. They claim they "got word" that a prequel series is happening, but that's it. They didn't say from who or where and no other outlets have reported on this. So... obviously this does not mean anything is happening and we should all reasonably be skeptical. However... since it is out there and some people are discussing it, I figured it best to share it here, too. Here are some select quotes from the article: And this is how they describe the show: Link: Whats On NetflixUntil there's more information and reliable reporting, I'm doubtful of this being real... but obviously hoping very strongly that it is! I do think a prequel series aka ATWQ would make sense. The creators of ASOUE all seemed to be very passionate about the world and would be willing to work with the story further. There also seemed to be a strong relationship between not only those crafting the story, but between the creatives and those at Netflix. And, even if chatter about the series dipped over the years, there was always a steady demand for more. So it's not the craziest rumor I've ever heard. Even if the source is doubtful, it's still always fun to imagine what an ATWQ TV series would be like, especially in connection with the ASOUE TV series. Imagine Patrick Warburton doing some narration - it would be lovely. P.S. Also hello to everybody at the boards! I've been MIA for the past year - I don't even think I shared my thoughts on ASOUE S3?! (Which I thought was overall amazing and I was very happy that my favorite books got such strong adaptations.) Anyway, I don't know how that happened, but I'm here and am going to spend the next hour scouring the boards, hoping I didn't miss any important Snicket news. Today I typed a message ot the author of this article and got an answer. Gotta make a new thread on this

Uh, sorry I totally could have continued this thread as you said! :/ Anyway he said the ATWQ was in Netflix's production list an that time. That's where he had the info from. But has not heard about it since then and think it's all because of the corona situation now... He sent me the production info and there were both Barry Sonnenfeld and Daniel Handler + Status labeled as 'in development'

I have merged your other thread into this one, carmelita0cheryl, and feel it best to highlight to you the following statement from Joe Tracz, one of the key figures in the Netflix adaptation: I regret to inform you that Daniel, Barry, and I have been showing this article to one another with much bafflement and amusement. So while I can’t say for certain that there is no ATWQ series in development at Netflix, I can say the three of us haven’t heard anything about it. Which means this news should be taken with a very large grain of salt. (Or, more controversially, horseradish-laced sugar.)

Given how ATWQ wasn't nearly as successful as ASOUE, I very much doubt that it would immediately be the next in line to get an adaptation. However, as I've speculated in the past... From what I get the catastrophist member or this forum is Joe Tracz?? So there is not gonna be any more ASOUE netflix content propably?
