Were there references to Jewish culture in the Netflix serie? I didn't notice many of them, but maybe I wasn't paying much attention. I know that in the books these references popped out of my head, and I wondered what some names meant until I was able to have easy access to the internet and to do my own research. I think it is appropriate to talk about this, because I believe Daniel Handler has a great deal of respect for his Jewish culture, and I would be very sad if I suspected that these references were removed just to avoid rejection from the general public because of some kind of discrimination.

Yes, there were.
[That's not a helpful answer, Hermes.]
The one I remember is Justice Strauss talking about the concept of a mitzvah. Also the closing theme music is a tradtional Jewish melody. I'm usre there were others, though.

The show is considerably more Jewish than the film. To my knowledge, there are no explicit references to Jewish culture in the film.
