Was the victim's body moved by the collapse of the building? Was the murderer a traitor to their side of the schism? Did the victim inadvertently prevent her killer's allegiance from being exposed?

Does Esmé Squalor have anything to do with all this? Was the murder an act of revenge? Was the landslide/flood deliberately caused? Was she murdered because she knew too much?

Did the mistake involved confusing numbers like 6 and 9? Did the mistake involved changing the order of numbers? Did the mistake involve reading numbers upside down? Did the mistake involved reading numbers on a mirror?

gothicarchiesfan Are any of the characters involved canon? Did the mistake involve misunderstanding which books went to which section? Was the cover or title of the book misleading?

gothicarchiesfan Are any of the characters involved canon? Did the mistake involve misunderstanding which books went to which section? Was the cover or title of the book misleading? 1) I suppose, but it doesn't really affect the situation. 2) Yes, it did. 3) In a way.

It feels like we're very close to nailing this one at last; I think exactly what happened to the victim and her corpse has more or less been established, I think we just need to pin down the nature of the victim's mistake. It's getting harder and harder to keep track of what information has already been confirmed, but we can only keep pushing forward.
Was the victim's mistake to misread a Dewey Decimal number, sending somebody to the wrong shelf, and causing them to inadvertently discover a piece of information hidden inside a book which betrayed their true allegiance?
Was the interval between this incident and the murder greater than one year?

You told us this was in a cold location. Did this happen in Mount Fraught?
Did the book include secret codes the victim didn't understand?
Did the book use the Sebald Code?
How about anagrams?
Did it have a title with the initials VFD?

gothicarchiesfan, I think you can already summarize the case and we move on to the next challenge. Do you need more any essential details?
