Chapter 1 -
Chapter 2 -
Jean Lúcio, Dante and his pupil arrived at the hotel after an exhausting day of investigations.
- This case is slower and longer than I thought it would be - said R.
- I suggest going to our rooms and chatting over dinner - Said Dante .
- I'm tired of using that bag on my face all day. I'm going to take a shower and meet you in the hotel's restaurant. - Said Jean.
- What's that bag on your face for, Jean? - Asked Roxy222.
- That's the wrong question. - Dante said to his pupil, releasing Jean from an embarrassing response.
An hour later, the three detectives were at the restaurant. Jean ate pork ribs, while Dante and Roxy ate lamb ribs.
- Are you sure it's okay to eat pork here, Jean?
- I think it's okay. The hotel owner is very liberal.
- So let's recap our findings so far. Roxy222, could you read our conclusions so far?
Roxy took her commonplace book: "A woman has been found dead with a stab wound from a mysterious object through her heart."
- Well, we already know what the object is. It was something that came from an ice statue. - Said Jean.
- Yes it's true. - Roxy222 continued. - The body was found in the place where a forest was. The forest was set on fire.
- We need to find out the cause of the fire. - Said Dante. - I think tomorrow I will ask some questions in the vicinity. I think I'll go to the library. Maybe they have some important information, inside or outside the books.
The speeches continued. The detectives analyzed their assumptions. The meal ended, and Roxy222 asked Jean a personal question.
- Jean, do you believe that a person who made a mistake should go unpunished if he could help more people if he goes unpunished?
Dante looked at his pupil with a reproachful look.
- I think it depends on the severity of the error and the intensity of those who made the mistake. And whether the person is sorry or not.
- I see ... But what if the person's mistake ended up causing the death of an innocent person? I mean: if one person was responsible for the safety of many others. And he was reckless, motivated only by greed or a desire to become famous or powerful. If he failed to follow important safety procedures, which he vowed to follow, and someone ended up dying because of it. But that person also saved the lives of many other people, and if he keeps doing the good job he can save the lives of others. And the punishment would be to make him leave that position. Would you act in a way that would ensure that he was punished?
- I think you're being too specific. What happened?
- Nothing happened, Jean. - Said Dante.
- But hypothetically speaking, Jean, what would you do?
- Well ... You must understand that situations like this always happen in real life, Roxy222. You can decide to act, and make the person receive the deserved punishment. But know that there will be consequences. Or you can shut up, and know that there will be consequences, especially for you.
- What kind of consequences can there be for you to be silent?
- Well ... the kind that you might also need a bag on your face to handle all reflective surfaces.
