This technically belongs in Cheerless Characters, but due to the subject matter I've decided to put it here, just to be safe.
I've pondered this query more and more these past months, and I'd like to open it up for this forum to weigh in. Olaf isn't motivated by any particular political ideology, of course, but perhaps he might find himself sympathizing with the Donald's unfettered greed. The two share traits in being incoherently duplicitous, telling whichever lie that suits them most at that particular time even though it may contradict a previous statement. Filthiness, general physical repulsiveness, and even sexual predation (perhaps just as threats for Olaf's case, and unfortunately more than just threats for Trump) are other similarities. Furthermore, Olaf's opposition to the noble side of VFD may find a kinship with Trump's faux-populist rhetoric; the Count may recognize the book-reading volunteers as being part of the "establishment" 45 rails against. So it is fair to suggest that Olaf would see quite a bit of himself in the currently COVID-afflicted POTUS.
What makes me uncertain is Trump's utter blatant-ness. Olaf doesn't much care for decorum, and I doubt he's a progressive on social/political/racial issues, but as a self-styled master of disguise perhaps he would be put off by DJT's being so flagrantly forthcoming about his vices. This made me wonder if Olaf himself is a racist; his Genghis/Gunther disguises may lean in that direction, but any obvious racial profiling is avoided in both cases IIRC.
My conclusion is that I can see Olaf idly defending Trump on occasion, but not actually getting out to go vote for him - he's just not politically motivated enough.
