Detectives spread out, each with a photo of the dead woman. R. was responsible for visiting restaurants, coffee shops and snack bars. Dante was responsible for visiting hotels. Christmas Chief was responsible for visiting markets. Marlowe was responsible for visiting bookstores and libraries. Paterson visited hospitals and police stations.

She found no one to recognize the woman in the photo. But everyone knew the Mallahan family, which today consists of a father and daughter. They were owners of the only newspaper in town, The Stain'd Lighthouse, with Moxie Mallahan as the editor in chief. The last place Roxy222 went was called Hungry's. Roxy222 - Hello, good afternoon. My name is Roxy222. I'm looking for Jake Hix. Does he still work here? Hungry Hix - Yes, I am his aunt. He's the chef here. But today he went to visit his friend at the hospital. (From here, R. continues the conversation).

No one was able to help Dante recognize the woman in the photo. But he confirmed that the Mallahan family, father and daughter, were important and well-known members of the city. Eligton Feint has not been seen in the past 12 years. No one saw anything particularly suspicious. Finally he went to The Lost Arms.
Prosper Lost - Mr Dante, are you yourself? Ah how long!
Dante - It's true. But today I need your help again.
Prosper Lost - Yes, as you wish.
Dante - Do you know the woman in this photo? Do you know if she is a member of the Mallahan family?
Prosper Lost - Oh ... I'm sorry for her. Yes, I recognize her from somewhere. I don't remember her name ... But, she is not a Mallahan. At least it is not one of our Mallahans.
Dante - Isn't she Moxie Mallahan's mother?
Prosper Lost - Oh, no ... I haven't seen Mrs. Mallahan ah in about 12 years, but I'm sure that for now she would be older than this woman. I mean, is this photo recent?
Dante - Yes.
Prosper Lost - So it's certainly not her. You may not know it, but I heard that Mr. and Mrs. Mallahan divorced about 7 years ago.
Dante - And when do you remember this woman?
Prosper Lost - I'm not sure ... But she is familiar to me. But it is no one that I have seen recently. Maybe I saw her when she was a teenager. It is certainly not anyone who lived in this city.
Dante - Could she be Eligton Feint?
Prosper Lost - No. Certainly not. I would never forget her or her name.

Hungry Hix - Her name is Moxy Malahan. She was poisoned, apparently by her own father.

I wonder how my associates are getting on at the markets, bookstores, and libraries, and how Paterson is getting along at the hospitals and police stations. But I suppose one can't expect results if information isn't forthcoming. Meanwhile, I will ask Prosper if he knows any locations of interest around the Hinterlands, and perhaps whether he can furnish me with today's newspaper.

Prosper - Well, I don't know much about that part of the country ... Just what we learned in geography classes, and it's been a long time since I've had classes like that ... But it's funny that you ask about today's newspaper. We haven't had an edition of the newspaper for a couple of days. This has never happened since The Stain'd Lighthouse reopened.

Muninn flies over several points in the city. He had a great sense of smell (both to identify the living and to identify those who were no longer alive). So he located each of the detectives and gave him a written message from Paterson. (Not everyone there had learned the language of birds).
"Please meet me at the police station. Mr. Mallahan is in custody here. He is suspected of attempting to murder his own daughter."
Soon, the whole group met at the police station.
The place was full of people who looked very busy. Some of them wore police uniforms, and other suits.
Paterson - This is very different from what I heard about this place.
Detective Lester - Unfortunately, crime has increased a lot with progress. Soon the police force also increased. I am responsible for the case involving Mr. Mallahan. You will not be able to interrogate him. He was intruded by lawyer Murple. But Mr. Paterson was able to convince the lawyer to talk to you.

This seems like a sideline, but you never know; and it seems our services have been requested. Would any of my associates care to volunteer to speak to Murple?

Paterson - Yes. Murple agreed to talk to us all when I showed him the photo of our victim.
The group of detectives went into a room, where Murple, wearing a purple suit, was waiting for the group.
(Anyone can ask him something).

Do you know why Mr Mallahan may have poisoned Moxie?

Murple - Oh !! Not!! He didn't do that !! I'm not just a lawyer for the Mallahan family! I'm their friend! He would never have done anything like that! Sure, he has depression, but he would never hurt an ant! He always loved Moxie very much!

Do you recognise this woman, I say, brandishing a photo of the victim. Does Mr. Mallahan recognise this woman? If not, why are we here talking to you?

Murple - Yes, we know who she is. And I know who you are. VFD, isn't it? Volunteers ... I never liked you, but I know you have a reputation for having good detectives, unlike the idiot police in this city. Prove Mr. Mallahan's innocence and we assist in your investigation.
