I really want to start this thread by thanking my favorite 4-legged mammal. Well ... I watched the first episode of Columbo, and I really had a lot of fun. It's fun how Columbo pretends to be an idiot. I thought that if the murder was shown right from the start, the story would be boring. But that is not the case ... Peter Falk's interpretation is sensational. And in the final credits I had a surprise: Steven Spielberg directed the first episode. And it was very metalinguistic ... I mean in one scene the characters come out of a police investigation play and one of them comments that he already knew who the killer was from the first act. But we, who are watching Columbo, already know who the killer is from the first act. That was really cool. I don't know if I already talked about how I like Monk, the unviersal series. Some of the episodes follow the same logic as Columbo. I think an important difference is that Monk shows the violent scenes in a much more graphic way. This clashes a little with the opening scene of the rest of the series. I mean ... my wife's niece, when she was younger, was a little shocked by the violent scenes. But that is not a problem here. (At least not in the first episode). I'll try to keep watching ... And whenever I feel like it, I should post something about it. Or not. Thanks Reba.

We have a "The Last TV Show You Watched" thread, just so you know, but I don't mind this thread. Yes, the first Columbo episode by Spielberg is a banger, as I remember it (it has been many years since seeing it). Once upon a time I've seen plenty episodes of the show that I know I liked. Though the only one that kind of sticks to my memory, besides the first, is the one with Johnny Cash. They had some cool guest stars. But yes, Peter Falk was the MVP.

I have to write more about Columbus. In a detective story in which the viewer already knows who committed the crime and how he did it, the role of the characters is essential to make everything still interesting. And I can say that the acting is very good, of all the characters. Everything looks like verocímel here. Nobody is exaggerated. And seriously ... There was an episode involving stolen paintings that was one of the best things I've ever seen involving filmed detective stories. The last scene was fantastic, and ended in just a gesture that interrupted the villain's speech. A gesture that solved everything. Ah ... what an excellent episode ... "Suitable for Framing" it's the name

Would you recommend the show to Monk fans? I am open to a new detective series. Also, what platform did you use to watch it?

Yes, I highly recommend it to Monk fans. (I have all Monk's DVDs) About "platform" is not exactly an appropriate word here ...I am watching with the help of a website. grandesclassicosdocinema.online/I didn't find it on the official platforms available in my country.
