Let me say something ... There is evidence that Jesus was not born in December. When he was born, shepherds lived with the sheep in the fields in the region. In December, the shepherds do not keep the sheep in the field because of the cold winter. In addition, there is evidence that he was born around the end of September or early October. The Bible does not say exactly the date of his birth, but it does say the date of death: it was on the Jewish Passover day of the year 33. When he was baptized he was 30 years old, and that happened in the year 29. And the gospels indicate that, after his baptism he participated in 4 Jewish Passover. This shows that he died at around 33 years and 6 months, approximately. Then, Passover is celebrated between March and April. Then, approximately 6 months later he would be 34 years old. About the wise men ... They may have arrived well after what is depicted in the nativity scenes. In addition to the travel time, the star must have been studied by astrologers before they decided to follow it. The star took them to Herod in Jerusalem. Herod was envious of the future prophesied king, and planned to kill him. When the astrologers finally arrived in Bethlehem, the gospels say that Jesus' family was in a house, not in a stable where he was born. In addition, they found a small child and not a newborn baby. In addition, Herod had all babies and young children two years old and younger killed. So, their arrival must have been some time after Jesus' birth. And as Marlowe said, it has long been known that the date of December 25th was chosen to combine with festivities that already existed on that date. It was chosen centuries after Jesus' birth. Knowing this, the English government banned the Christmas celebrations from 1644 to 1660.
