I watched an episode of a detective comedy series in which a man claims to have been poisoned and needs to find out who poisoned him before 48 hours, when the poison will presumably kill him. The poisoned man was a Jewish-American.

The Cornish Mystery (Poirot) is a similar detective vibe, "Alice Pengelley visits Poirot in London, telling him she thinks she is being poisoned by her husband. When Poirot arrives in Cornwall the next day to investigate Mrs. Pengelley's charges, he is too late, and finds her dead".

Jean Lucio, I appreciate your enthusiasm, and you do have a fairly solid coincidence there, but overall I think a thread like this is still wildly premature when the book won't be out for over half a year (if we're lucky). This thread can only be the "odd what you imagine Poison for Breakfast to be real-life coincidence thread" until then.
I have, however, been thinking about merging the ATWQ and ASoUE coincidence threads to make an all-series Lemony Snicket coincidence thread, and the existence of this thread may accelerate matters. I will leave it open just for the time being for people to express an opinion on this matter.
