You must imagine how my mind exploded with all this, and how theories must be popping up inside my mind ...

Reading up to March 1st 2001:
It seems that Lemony met with Beatrice about the time of the murder, and with Ellington about the time of the fire.
The map which Daniel retrieves from the library seems to be the one formerly possessed by Lemony. I strongly suspect that Lemony is dead.
Caviar, salty jewel of the tasty sea? Is it in fact the eggs of the BB? Why is Lemony sprinkling it?
Are we to suppose that the horseradish factory was already abandoned when the islanders arrived there? And does not its abandonment leave the world in danger?
I guess Fortuna Juvat is inspired by Sic Mundus and Erit Lux.

I'm glad someone picked up on the fire. Yes, it is around that time.
Fortuna Juvat is not directly inspired by them, no, but I can see why you would draw those parallels. I came up with the idea of the watch and the words before I created the cult to go with it. Anka suggests you're thinking of the metal doorway rather than the cult itself...I was thinking more of Kit's escape in ATWQ and hadn't thought about the connection with Dark, so that was definitely not intentional.
The story has elements of it inspired from Dark in terms of having a multi time period narrative, and there are some thematic similarities.

YEs, I meant the inscription on the door - I haven't read about any cult yet.

As always, Jean, you are on the right street but perhaps not going in the right direction. This comment deserves more appreciation btw.
