Congrats Jean and Roxy! I see this as a replay of last year's result, with Jean now in Dante's place, and Roxy in Jean's.
And now:
A little while ago, a notable 667er described Dante as 'the leading expert in ASOUE-related issues across the planet'. And so, of course, he was. For as long as I can remember, Dante has been the leading source of insight on Snicketological issues. Even before I was a member, while I was lurking, I was impressed by his wisdom, and it was a large part of my reason for joining 667 and then staying here.
667 has often been much more than a Snicket site, with its original fiction and art, and its Big Brothers and Advent calendars and what have you, and its brilliant thread-like threads of the kind Sophie used to start, and its general banter;, but the Snicket material was at its heart, and was always our first reason for being here, and it was Dante who made this the world's leading Snicket site.
An Urban Dictionary editor made us out to be enemies, and I can't deny that we crossed swords from time to time; I doubt we will ever agree on the number of Gustavs, or just in what way Lemony is unreliable. But I never doubted that he was the greater Snicketologist.
How will 667 continue without him? No one of us can fill his place; we will all have to work together to do so. As moderatror of the Snicket sections, for the time being at least, I will do my best to give a lead, but I cannot give 667 the commitment Dante did (and besides, right now I don't have access to the books), so the more people join in the more sucessful we will be.
And by the way - Dante's last words answer a question many of us have pondered, and reveal that we have indeed had a hidden romance in our midst (and, amazingly, between two people not called M).
Dante, I wish you well, wherever life takes you. Quod bonum faustum felix fortunatumque sit.

I am still in shock by Dante's apparent departure, so excuse me when I gloss over the individual other winners at the Dantes and simply congratulate all the well-deserved winners I haven't congratulated yet.
I also want to pay my respects to Dante - the person whose eloquence and unparalleled Snicket expertise made me, too, join (and definitely to an extent made me continue coming to) this forum. Like many, I have butted heads with Dante - just once, really, iirc - which resulted in a long private message back and forth discussion on the nature of censorship... we didn't end up seeing eye to eye, but I think I can say that it was the most in-depth argument on one topic I've had with anybody. The troubles of the past that Dante mentioned were before my time here, so I can't say anything about that. (Though I am happy to hear that the suspicions of romance some of us had turn out to be true.) Suffice to say, I still hope this is just a belated April Fool's prank, but if not - your presence will be sorely missed, Dante.

Thank you so much to everybody who voted for me for Best Artist, I am truly honoured and so glad to be apart of this small but significant corner of the Snicket fandom! Thank you Dante for hosting and although I’ve joined 667 pretty late, I can tell how much of an impact you’ve had here and how important you are to everybody! I’m sad that I haven’t been able to get to know you all but I hope to in the future, and yes Hermes, I definitely intend to stick around for next years awards too!! Truth is i’m incredibly shy and struggle a lot to make friends so forgive me for being so quiet, but i’m very lucky that my passion for art can at least let me share some things with other Snicket fans and help me start conversations that i’d otherwise struggle to initiate! Thank you all ^-^

I came here to say goodbye.
I spent a lot of time talking to Dante over the years, and I thought he wouldn’t leave the place ever. But alas, it has come to pass, and so I’m here to bid farewell to Dante and wish all the best for the new 667.
And of course, congratulations to the new winners. Quite well-deserved.

This ceremony was really remarkable and very notorious. And of course you'll be on the next one.
