Ee, what? The industry has invented a fake sister of Daniel Handler? What would they gain by doing that?
This presumably shares a background with DH's play about a rabbi/rabbit, Imaginary Comforts.
Also, the heading is a bit confusing. The actual article says 'grieved for her father', but the url shortens it to 'grieved her father', which conjures up pictures of a father who is very sad about his daughter's rebellious acts such as novel-writing and swimming.

Bear was clearly joking, but the idea is that the industry (rather than the public) invents the hype behind an industry plant... not that they've invented the person itself, lol. While I'm not planning on getting this book, I'd be interested to at least read a 667er's review of the book at some point.

If I had a famous writer brother and I wanted to promote my book, I wouldn't act any different.

No I am not. Merely Mr. Handler himself.
