So I went to my GP yesterday, had a nice wee mental breakdown in the doctor's office, and got prescribed zopiclone (only for 7 days though). Took one last night, slept through the night for just over 6 hours. I think I have a thing in my head where I 'need' 7+ hours, but my dad has always been a short sleeper so I might be the same. I feel okay this morning.
Also for me a lot of the fear around not sleeping is not being able to function/wasting the day after, so I just need to remove the emphasis and negativity on sleep and do that anyway, and then I'm hoping I can break the cycle.

Regarding your mental breakdown, I hope that you're feeling better now. Thanks A good cry with a stranger usually helps lol

So I've actually managed to rest pleasantly (like 7.5 hours with only waking up once or twice) for the last 3 nights. I feel like a different person just from having those extra couple hours of sleep.
I'm not taking Zopiclone though. That didn't work for me. I've been kind of fixing it myself.

Good to hear that you're getting better I would be so worried about taking any sleeping medication because I would be scared of getting addicted. I have a similar fear of painkillers.

Best of luck. Are you nervous about it? No, not at all, I'm very open minded to all that 'woo-woo' type alternative stuff

I think for me first time sleeping with someone is always a Sleepless Night. Second time is chill tho. My boyfriend has pretty bad insomnia but falls asleep immediately when I'm around... I guess im boring lol I struggle with insomnia too (4am at time of writing), and as mentioned earlier, rotating shift work really makes it worse. Normally spend half my weekend catching up on sleep debt aieee.

Going to hypnotherapy for this next tuesday lol This was such a weird experience, it was like being bought to the brink of falling asleep, all the while thinking about walking on the beach, the sound of my siblings laughing, and the smell of a hot wood fire during childhood. Idk if I'll go back I woke up in the middle of the night last night and did panic about not being able to get back to sleep, but imagined the negative voice about it coming from my big toe, and then the next thing I knew my alarm was going off at 7am
