I meant to post about this much earlier but I've had an incredibly busy week, but yes: I met DH at last and it was brilliant. The host asked him about a couple of the stories in PFB and he confirmed that yes, he has bumped into a sea lion while swimming (twice!) and that he really did lose a book only to get sent his own old copy when he bought it again online. Also, Louis Hynes was there, which was cool. He was sitting a couple of rows back from me and I recognised him (obviously) but I don't think anyone else had noticed so I didn't say anything; I didn't want to draw attention to him and ruin his evening. But when the book signing started, he spoke to Lisa Brown and got taken straight to the front of the queue to meet DH immediately haha DH was really, really lovely and spoke properly to everyone; I got to say thank you for selecting my illustration as one of the ATWQ Fan Art competition winners, and he seemed genuinely delighted about that, and my friend told him how we met because of ASOUE. I took 4 books along for signing (PFB, TBB rare edition, TUA, and The Blank Book). I've never dared to write in The Blank Book, so my friend asked him to write something on a random page, which he did. I hope I'll see him again at future events and I plan to keep bringing The Blank Book and asking him to write on a new page each time. Also, I met an ASOUE fan there who hadn't heard of this forum and hopefully she'll be joining us! 18/19 years of ASOUE-obsession and finally I have a photo of DH staring at me with confusion and dread ^_^ P.S. Sorry Optimism is my Phil-osophy I didn't see the message you wanted passed on to DH until after the event!

All right, you're forgiven. (But I can't deny that I'm a little jealous).
