I'm not able to help much, but I've heard that the Harry Potter audiobooks narrated by Stephen Fry are outstanding. I can confirm that they are indeed outstanding. And there are also audiobooks of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Quidditch Through the Ages, and The Tales of Beedle the Bard, though they're not read by Stephen Fry. Recently I listened to 'The Guest List', by Lucy Foley, which was enjoyable. Also 'Eight Perfect Murders', by Peter Swanson. They're both thrillers, which I think work well as audiobooks.

Anything P.G. Wodehouse read by Jonathan Cecil is always a nice comforting time.

French Percy Jackson, LOL
if you wanna listen to French I recommend RFI, free 24 hour radio. Lots of human interest stories from AFRIQUE because that’s where most of the listenership is.

My main intention was to download all the ASOUE audiobooks. My CDs and tapes wore out a long time ago. But since then, I've found other books. I even found the old Sophie series by Dick King Smith, read by Bernard Cribbins. The exact same recording as the tape I had when I was little. Now I'm looking at Stephen King books, as I enjoy his films but never read the originals. Carrie and Misery are my favourites 😁 If anyone can recommend any King books in particular, I'd appreciate it.

IT is not worth it. the least concise book i've ever read, despite the concept being quite good. reading is already considerably faster than listening, i would shudder to think at how long the audiobook for that monster would be.

When it comes to learning foreign languages I recommend reading - or otherwise consuming, like audio books and movies - whatever is entertaining and comforting to you, so that you focus more on the content than the language. It should also be something that is on your linguistic level that is not too easy, but also doesn't stand in the way of your enjoyment of the media. Grammar is usually assimilated that way for the most part... that's what I learned in language acquisition classes. New vocab has to be looked up, of course.

terry craigs advice may be more balanced and correct, but mine is made to incite to action. As for Audible audio books, I only got a free trial once, so I could hear John Malkovich read slaughterhouse five. Horrible book, but Malko sounded cool.
