With the recent talk of the film and show, I wanted to make a thread where people could share what they would want in an animated adaptation.
In addition to the obvious (Sunny fighting Georgina with her teeth), what would YOUR dream animated adaptation look like?
I, myself, have always wanted an animated show in the style of the Brett Helquist illustrations. Bonus points if The Gothic Archies music is included and Tim Curry voices Olaf.

Honestly, and maybe this is controversial, I think they should double down on what the Netflix show did and actively restructure the story even more.
I love the books but Handler very clearly had different ideas for what he wanted them to be like for each volume.
The weird half-measures that a lot of the show's earlier episodes make, where they're trying to do new things but also faithfully keep to the books but also not try to copy what the movie did means that the pacing can kind of feel really off to me, at times.
That's honestly why I really like the episodes that depart more from the books.
The pacing just feels so much more natural and tight for those stories because it's not afraid to rewrite the story to make it flow better. Instead of kind of taking the original narrative and then just slapping on new scenes on top.

Personally I’ve always thought stop-motion of the Corpse Bride sort would work really well. Either that or hand drawn and pleasantly scratchy and stylised, like in 101 Dalmatians or The Sword in the Stone. I really enjoy seeing the pencil marks from the animators in those films, and that quality could work really well for ASOUE. I think it would work well with the fact that Lemony is reporting the Baudelaires’ story as a truthful account, so it would feel almost like some bizarre file put together by animators risking their lives to report the truth, if that makes sense.

An adaptation from Laika would be amazing, both visually and because they have a great track record with adapting quirky vintage-tinged childrens books (Coraline, The Boxtrolls, and apparently they are adapting Wildwood, which I haven’t read but is of course illustrated by Carson Ellis. (Speaking of whom, I just saw that they’ve made a series of the mysterious Benedict society, and it looks just like the Netflix asoue, with 60s theme and Tony Hale. Gross.))

While I'd prefer it stayed more book loyal, what it shouldn't do is only act like events from the books happened. Monty getting a VFD message in a VFD film from a VFD run cinema and still thinking Stephano was a herpetological spy is a big one, as is that scene in The End where they read the island book and hear that Klaus would have been called Lemony, laugh, and then have Violet quickly say "We met a Lemony" before returning to the original scene. If they're going to change things, go all out.

Yes, I would love to see Laika tackle Snicket! I think stop-motion or traditional animation would definitely be the best medium for ASOE. Computer animation wouldn't be suitable, imo.

A Laika Snicket adaptation would be epic, although I personally imagine it as traditionally animated.
