It's lovely! I can't quite tell what the border is, but it seems to be something undulating, something wavelike. Although, that would be odd because The Wide Window already had a wave border. And I think that is Ike on Klaus's scuba suit; we'll probably find out when the first chapter comes out online. Or later.

Spider said that it could be, and it sort of makes sense. I suspect that it's an old wise VFDer who used to own the suit. Or you know what would be really cool? If it were Jules Verne, author of 20000 Leagues Under the Sea. That's the sort of thing Lemony would do.

I'll have to check TWW and see if Ike's hair or lack of same was ever referred to. And I found a picture of Jules Verne: The portrait on the suit looks a bit like him, but it's hard to tell. What cool diving suits.

OH EM GEE GIRM GORTOT COVAR
It's prettyyyy, but the posing is all stiff. Klaus's, anyway, Sunny is adorable. Posing is understandable since they're in big vintage diving suits, though. Anachronism ahoy!
It actually kind of reminds me of that mockup OlafsAssociate did. CAUSE OR COINCIDENCE? Look, angler fishie. *poke*
AHAHAHAHA, I just thought of something awesome: Godzilla parody ending with Klaus pitching The Oxygen Destroyer into the sea in order to kill mutated Lucafont or someone, and that's how he'd die. <3 <3 <3

I won't be surprized if they find Nemo. Wait, what if they're trying to capture Nemo? OMG! What will Townsville do in this moment of crisis? Call the Powerpuff Girls! And..and..Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy!! XD XD XD Ha. Sorry.

Anachronism ahoy! Why would the diving suits be anachronistic? The series is supposed to take place in a pseudo-Victorian/Dickensian alternate world, where such diving suits would presumably fit right in. But that doesn't explain the more modern technology. Let's just say that the series is beyond space and time. I luv the angler fishy. And the jellyfish. Those creatures live in the deepest trenches of the sea, so finding them in a grotto would be odd. Unless it's a really deep grotto, or the submarine goes into this deep oceanic abyss. Cool! I like abysses.

I mean, you have Justice Strauss talking about credit card fraud and Klaus discussing fiber optic cables, and they still don't have scuba suits. The Ersatz Elevator song is called This Abyss... Also, if they have devilfish (those GINORMOUS red octopi in the benthic zone of the ocean) I will be so happy. I love cephalopods.

Rumor(and Daniel Handler) speak of a mechanical octopus(the mechanical monster mentioned on the back cover). I imagine it as a creaky-looking many-armed monstrosity with claws on its tentacles and this nozzle that squirts ink, yet I can't imagine what it would be used for. Robotic cephalopods, neat.

XD THIS IS SO EXCITING!
The old man, by the way, DOES look like Jules Verne... a lot, which is pretty darn cool.
Hopefully there are lots of interesting semi-fictional sea-creatures/robots. I'm diggin' this...
Wait, the fish in the right corner looks like one of those down-where-no-light-reaches fish. I'm no fish expert, but that's gotta mean something cool.

Pardon my skeptism.
In my opinion, that looks different from Brett Helquist's art, not that I am doubting that it very well could be his and the actual cover. It just looks odd to me, not his style... JasonKondrick
