A promotion to guess the title of B12, and get some fabulous prizes! But wait - what do you mean it's not on TheNamelessNovel.com...? www.egmont.co.uk/thenamelessnovel/- The winning entry will be that unique entry judged to provide the most appropriate and original title for Book the Twelfth, based on the others in the series. It will not be the actual title that will appear on the book when it hits UK bookshops. The 12 runners-up prizes will be awarded to the first entries picked under independent supervision and at random from all entries received. The promoter's decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
- Entrants must be resident in the UK but not employees (or members of their families) of Egmont UK Ltd, their agents or anyone professionally connected with the promotion. Parental permission for anyone under the age of 16 is required for entry.
- All entries must be received by October 17th 2005.
- The winner and the 12 runners-up will be notified by email within 28 days of the closing date.
- Entry is free and entries must be made via the website.
- Entries are restricted to 12 per person.
- No cash alternatives to the prizes will be available.
- For the names and counties of the winners and details of the winning entry send a SAE to The Nameless Novel, Egmont Press Publicity Department, 239 Kensington High Street, London W8 6SA.
- The information you enter on this website will only be kept for the purposes of administering the promotion and will be not be passed to third parties. After the winner and runners-up have been decided, this information will be deleted.
[/li][/ul] From the rules, it seems that we don't actually have to guess the title (although if you did, you'd probably win) - you just try and come up with a title that's good. Which is odd. But anyway, excuse me while I just steal a few guesses. Note that this competition, as stated in the rules, is U.K.-only. If you live outside of the United Kingdom, then you cannot enter (or rather, you are not eligible to win). If this is so, you may still suggest original titles here which have a chance of winning the competition. |

I'd like to enter that contest(even though my titles may not be the best) but I don't live in the UK. The prizes sound pretty cool.

Tee hee! Eh, sorry. I'm just rather hyped, as it's not often we get something exclusive that's actually good. Plus I'd quite like those prizes.
Don't worry, unlucky cross-Atlantic friends. I expect that the mystical promotion on TheNamelessNovel.com - if it exists - will be exactly like this, only exclusive to residents of the U.S.
Edit: In the meantime, those of you who can't participate could suggest interesting titles which might win. They don't even need to be likely to be the true title - just nice. I've used six of my guesses already. I'm saving the rest.

I wonder if I could enter this. Many times in competitions has the Republic of Ireland been included in the UK. I wish they'd specify.

But there's soemthing wrong here. He's mispelled "scepticism," and left the "all" out of "With all due respect." Finally, he refers to children as "pathetic saplings" - Lemony's normally very polite. And as TheNamelessNovel.com says, Snicket and his new book have vanished - there's no word from him. So, we have here the question: who's really running this contest - Count Olaf?
