I figured it would end up being me (unless somebody else has done it, and just not said so). I'll try and get around to that... Sometime. Thanks for the address.

Quite, but you shouldn't post if you really don't have anything to say. For the record, I've sent a letter, and now it's just a matter of waiting for Egmont never to reply.

No reports of the winning title yet. I'm still waiting and researching, though. In fact, I may unsticky this soon, and then bump it with the winning title if I ever learn it.

But thats just wrong, Dante you sure you sent it to the right adress? and are you sure you still havent got a reply. I contacted Egmont and they said they had only recived one SAE wich the replied to before Christmas. So there are a few possibilities:
-It got lost in the post -The competition had no winner-just a type of hoax(well not really but you know what i mean, competitions in wich they just cant be bothered to select a winner.) -Dante got the address wrong(Doubtfully)
So what do you say? I mean no point sending another one. So just try and find out on the net. Have Unforunate Events got any news?

Okay, here's what's been happening:
Egmont got my letter, but either I wasn't specific enough or (as I now suspect) they didn't keep a record of the winning answer, as they just told me the winner's name and location (which I won't be posting, as that wouldn't be polite). Gigi kindly e-mail Egmont at an address they provided me with to ascertain the winning title, but the reply she got stated that the winning entry was "The Penultimate Peril." The terms and conditions of the contest specifically stated that the winning title would not be the one on the front of the book - it would be the most appropriate original title. So either they were lying in the terms and conditions (or changed their mind), or they're lying now. I actually suspect they didn't keep a record of the winning submission, or can't be bothered to dig it up.
So basically, there is a winner, but we can't be sure what winning title they submitted. I don't think we're going to get any more information out of them, although people are free to try. I'll unsticky this tomorrow.

Don't unsticky it just yet. I e-mailed the rep back and said:
I hope she answers with some sort of reason why they went against their own rules. Something smells fishy.

I just don't trust Egmont. I don't either. I'm betting she won't e-mail me back with any explanation and they will never own up to the fact that they probably botched this whole contest.

Its just wierd, i mean i submitted "The Penultimate Peril" the moment i found out the leaked title and apparently if my sources are correct that was only about 4 days after the contest had started. So could someone have really submitted it that early? Oh yes and i've been in contact with Egmont and the woman(Victoria Gordan) just says that you need to send an SAE for the winning title. Dante Can i try and contact them? If yes whats the e-mail?
