..... It looks like there's Sebald Code. Check TPP chapter three, where Frank or Earnest is talking to the Bauds about the bells. He says ring at the beginning twice, most likely to get their attention in case they didn't hear the first ring. And he "rings" again at the end. And after Klaus says something, it states that the manager "frowned as if Klaus had given him the wrong answer" or something like that. Might this be of some signifigance?

Sebalde Code - where stuff like this should be posted, and indeed if somebody could go post there about the Sebald Code in TPP, then that would be very helpful in giving people the right impression.

Edit: Oh, and the code itself says "Are you in or enemies please respond." It's speculated that Handler mixed it up accidentally, and the "in" should have read "associates."
