Every one is saying something about the female finish pirates, but unless its the 15th century or 16th century (early) i dont see how it can happen. The a gain i havent read the rare editon, so there could be something im missing
Sorry if this has already been pionted out or discussed!

Or even, you know, Female FiNNish Pirates. Although given that it's the last book, "Finish" is also appropriate.
And why do so many anti-F.F.P. theorisers forget that Widdershins actually says, in TGG, that the Queequeg has been attacked by pirates? Kit Snicket helped build the Queequeg, so it's probably not more than around thirty years old.
“Maybe if I hadn’t hesitated,” the captain continued, “the Queequeg would have been repaired by now! Aye! The Submarine Q and Its Crew of Two is not in the best of shape, I’m afraid! Aye! We’ve been attacked by villains and leeches, by sharks and realtors, by pirates and girlfriends, by torpedoes and angry salmon! Aye!” TGG – p35-36
'The Snicket siblings?' Klaus was quick to ask.
'Aye,' the captain said, 'Three of them, each as noble as the rest. Aye! Kit Snicket helped build this submarine! Aye!' TGG - p98-100 (somewhere on those)

I don't think that the last quote really has much to do with the FFP theorm. But I see your point with the first quote...... still, why would pirates appear in a book that has elevators and cars in it? It makes no sense. Then again, It's Snicketverse. It doesn't have to make any sense. *Is waiting for millions of pro-FFP-ers to become extremely brokenhearted when Handler does not put the FFP in the 13th book*

In TGG, Lemony Snicket also says that he had to use the phrase "shiver me timbers" in order to "pose as a pirate experiencing amazement." (TGG p. 45). When Sunny used the phrase, Captain Widdershins accused the Baudelaires of piracy.
I wonder if the pirates in the last book will use old pirate phrases. (I rather hope they don't).

Gawd! people drop the FFP thing. It's not gonna happen. I'd be extremely surprised if it did.

Well, anything is possible, and it's more likely because the Baudelaires are out at sea, where pirates usually are, so don't automatically assume that it's impossible. Besides, this is Snicket world!

Because of the quote provided above, it assume that Esmewill be one of the FFP. Hey, Sharks and realtors have similar qualities you know.
It would also be enjoyable if some FFP will sneak down the sea to retrieve some treasure, and the sugarbowl in it. O come on, there could be this tunnel from the pond that leads to the sea.
Pirate Bandanas are in!

I'll assume your talking about the quote on pg35-36 of TGG which Dante posted, heh Esme a pirate? Some how that doesn't workout in my mind. It states the pirates and girlfriend as seperate so I very much doubt Esme is a pirate. Hmmm but I wonder when Widdershins said they were attacked by girlfriends, we all assumed Esme, but could she be someone else? Say Beatrice?
